Re: [spell] Magic Weapon

The SRD puts its duration at 1 min./level, which is the same duration of spells like bull's strength. It's difficult to say how durations usually translate here, but magic weapon at GM seemed shorter than a strength spell. Still, even as it is, I have had casters use it and weapon of energy on my fi...

Re: [spell] Magic Weapon

Oh. Well, that's good to know. I imagined spells were more on the hard code side of things. In that case, bless weapon would be amazing, too *cough*. Keeping on topic for now, though, even knowing that the greater version could be added, I'm not sure it should be. At least not until +3 and +4 weapon...

[spell] Magic Weapon

So, I did some testing with magic weapon to be triple sure, and it turns out that, even at grandmaster skill level, it grants only a +1 bonus for quite a short time. Here is the entry for magic weapon on SRD, and here is greater magic weapon , for reference. To summarize, magic weapon... is a level ...

Re: Epic Battles

And because sometimes the very best battles are the ones you lose, here's one of many things that made me love Zethanon's character. After a ton of provocation by Zeth, including murdering some of Areia's brothers and sisters, Areia gets played like a fiddle, challenging Zeth, promising to do horrib...

Epic Battles

Whether it's a pivotal moment for RP like the final standoff between the big good and the big evil, or a sweet achievement like finally killing a notoriously difficult mob, or just a plain old, hard-fought brawl that came down to the wire, I personally love looking back on logs of big battles. I don...

Specialised Scroll Vendor

The biggest trouble in practice with actually using scrolls is organization and sorting through a big stack of "(15) a blank scroll (perfect)" when you really need a specific spell on short (or even slightly longer) notice. So how about a mob who sells scrolls, customized a little bit visually depen...

Re: A suggested solution to improve the game in regards to PK and Death

Despite that some of my own past experiences make me tend toward sympathy for you, I also know there are at least two sides to every story and so try not to have an opinion on things for which I was not present. That said, I have a few general points in response to your suggestions that will, I hope...

Re: Fewer PvP Rules if Not on Killmode Kill?

Thinking back on my PvP experiences, and after rewriting this post several times since this morning, I think I've settled on a painful truth. You can police harassers IC, even punish them OOC very harshly as an imm with the intent to make super sure your point gets across, but that stuff is necessar...

Re: Singing sword quest bugged out.

Gah, I'm an idiot. Not sure why I forgot to record the qlog entry while logging. As misfortune would have it, I deleted the PC just a few hours ago, so I can't be precise. I recall it being something to the effect of, "Wait for Snome to bring you the ale." Although I can say for certain that the PC ...

Re: Mega thread: Rainy day simple fixes

A few low-level quests could use some minor adjustments to make them more sensible and easy to follow. You give an Express Deliveries contract token to Geoffrey. Geoffrey checks the code on the token and looks in his registery. Geoffrey hums a song to himself for a short while. Geoffrey says to you ...

Re: Singing sword quest bugged out.

This quest is still broken. You say 'I need ale' Erallar Snome says to you 'So, the innkeeper from the Singing' Erallar Snome asks you 'Sword sent you?' Erallar Snome says to you 'Well, yes I do have some crates of ale,' Erallar Snome says to you 'in the brewery follow me.' You now follow Erallar Sn...

Re: The High Hunt: A repeating event

Ooooh. This sounds like a really good time. I'm dying to see the first one! A brief (and probably dumb) question: In IC terms, is it a hunt to the death, like Malarite/Hungerfest style, or is everyone meant to survive even if they're beaten? I suspect the former, but thought I'd ask so as to avoid m...

I can't say I have the time to roll up another PC at the moment, but I would love to see and support (or work to denounce, depending on the alt ;) another event like this.

Re: Dismissable Familiars

I agree fully. I saw a conversation on this same topic the other day, and the player's feelings on familiars boiled down to, "I don't care if it won't boost my skills or have super SR or whatever, I just want a familiar to RP with." I think that rings true for pretty much any dedicated wizardly RPer...

Re: The Grand Malarite Trophy Leagues: First Hunt

I thought it was a great idea, personally. Malar's is a pretty wide-ranging faith ethically, and this seemed a good way to involve more people with a somewhat more neutral-leaning show of his dogma. Not that I'm even remotely an expert on Malar. But there are many different ways to roleplay faith in...

[obj] A Copper Torque with a Heart-Shaped Ruby

Areia received this item from a special area a couple years ago. It's supposed to cast heal and always has done, except now it seems not to do anything at all. This necklace is made of copper of thick square piece of copper attached together. A thumb-sized heart of ruby is inset in the center of the...
