In all of this discussion I havent seen anyone indicating how you'll overcome the fact that a MUD reboot will wipe out any items not stored in a coded store... Although events are organised in an OOC fashion, please do ensure that in game the competitions and encounters are IC.

Orcs and elves competing against each other in such an event would be hard to cover ICly.
