Judging a Necromancer - Aftermath

Post by Vaemar » Fri Nov 11, 2016 3:54 pm

This is what happened after Jethral's meeting with the necromancer. It shows a bit how roleplay at the Haze is and gives an idea about how events are relevant not by simply happening but by how their knowledge is spread and influences other people. It is not simply a tale but a talk between Vidar, the protagonist, and Dasyra, a halfdrow waitress of the Haze. The log is from her point of view, although it is not extremely apparent.

I edited out all the redundant information. Most things mentioned are of common knowledge and I redacted the tiny bits that I considered even potentially dangerous. If someone spots anything they would not like to be published here, just send me a pm and I will edit it out.
The Purple Haze Tavern
E-A courtyard W-Teshwave Street U-Door D-Hatch
This large circular room sits at the base of the large tower. This, the largest
floor, sits at about eighty feet in diameter. From the tables scattered around
the room, the ample bar that traces the gentle curve of the southern wall, and
the fragrant smells of cooked food, it is easy to discern that this area is the
main dining room of 'The Haze'. Windows dot around the outside of the tower and
are set with purple curtains. Also providing light into this tavern are wrought
iron holders containing dancing globes of faerie fire. Starting at the northern
most part of the dining room, and curving in above the tables is a stylish metal
stairway that ends at an ornate hatch, with runes carved into it. The doors to
the west obviously lead back out into Zhentil Keep, from the bustling noise.
And finally, there also is a door to the east which leads into a grand courtyard.
A wooden table is here. (perfect)
A huge, circular table of black wood is here. (very good)
Dasiana the fire-haired serving wench is here.

Vidar walks in from the west.
Dasiana glances over at Vidar with the shy look of a curious girl before turning to deliver a customer's drink.
Dasiana says to Vidar 'Good day. Sit where it please you.'
Dasiana says to Vidar 'Lady Myn Cimril welcomes you to The Purple Haze.'

Vidar enters and waves happily to you 'Finally, I see you again!'.

Vidar nods to Dasiana 'Good day, to you as well!'.

Dasyra directs to you a very faint smile and a graceful nod 'Welcome to the Haze. Same for me, Vidar.'.

Dasyra holds a large plate with a steaming cup of tea under her arm 'Please, take a seat where you like, or sit at the bar, if you prefer.'.

Vidar nods knowingly to you and whispers 'I see, you're at work' and sits by the bar.

Vidar brightens as he sees the cup 'A tea would be nice, thank you.' and takes some coins from the satchel.

Dasyra chuckles 'Don't worry, I am at work but there is nobody, so I was going to just mop the floor a bit. Nothing to worry about.'.

Dasyra raises a hand 'It is offered.'.

Vidar looks at the rised hand 'What do you mean, Dasyra, by offered?'.

Dasyra places the large plate with biscuits in front of you and near it sets in front of you the cup of tea 'Here you are. I hope it will make you a little calmer.'.

You give fine porcelain plate decorated with floral patterns to Vidar.

You give a cup of vanilla tea to Vidar.

Vidar clasps his hands and stands up, as if he wanted to hug you, but then he stops and sits back again.

Dasyra explains with an ample motion and a faint grin 'That tea is on the house for you today.'.

Dasyra jokes 'See, evil monster ladies have a heart as well.' nods slowly 'But don't touch us or you will discover we have poisonous skin.'.

Dasyra leans against the bar 'So what was that troubled you before?'.

Vidar takes a biscuit from the plate, nibs on it and takes the cup to the other hand, 'Aye, I will remember that' and laughs.

Vidar stops using a deep purple steel cutlass encrusted with seashells.

Vidar holds takes a sip from the warm tea, 'Mhmmm, excellent after a cold journey. Ahh, Dasyra...'.

Vidar finishes the bisuit and holds the cup in both hands and turns on seat to face both Dasiana and you.

Dasyra sneers wringing her hands 'It is one of my favourite brews, along with licorice.'.

Vidar takes another sip, 'Licorice? Never had one... Something to try next time, I believe' and gives a warm smile.

Vidar turns to you 'Before I come to my story, I would like to know how you are.'.

Dasyra smiles lightly 'I am fine, I enjoy doing my job. Although it would be nicer to have some more patrons, but, things could always be worse.'.

Vidar nods and adds 'As Lady of Misfortune provides, I guess.' and smiles.

Dasyra bows her head and touches her pendant respectfully 'The Maid provides, indeed.'.

Dasyra enquires softly 'So what did she provide to you this time?'.

Vidar takes a closer look at you.

Vidar looks at you.

Vidar clears his throat.

Vidar smiles widely 'I know I did say it but...'.

Vidar pauses for a while '... I really like your dressing style. It really suits you and adds even more mystery'.

Vidar raises a finger and exclaims 'Oh!' and then speaks normally 'I finished the Book on the Ten days'.

Dasyra stares at you, arching her brows and frowning slightly 'I am... glad you like it. Thank you for the compliment.'.

Dasyra adjusts her hair distractedly 'Oh, how did you find it?'.

Vidar continues 'Initially I thought it was a poem only, but then I discovered the second part, describing the history behind it. And this part appealed more to me, but both parts were very enjoyable.'.

Vidar ponders and says 'I think that the poem was written in the style of a song. Why? Because there was always this part repeating, like a refrain.'.

Dasyra nods 'I liked the historical notes, but I think the poem enhances and elevates those events more, through art and rhyme.'.

Dasyra nods again 'A good observation.'.

Vidar smiles and replies 'Well, each one of us has its better part in it'.

Vidar takes another sip.

Vidar takes another biscuit, 'You do not want one?'.

Dasyra asks pensively, glancing a moment over the bar 'What do you think of what happened to the nobles? In particular about the topic of retribution toward the deserving.'.

Dasyra continues 'In this case deserving because they had not planned in case those events happened in advance.'.

Dasyra stares at the plate and then raises her gaze looking up at Vidar 'It would be quite unprofessional of me to take one. But thanks for the offer.'.

Vidar ponders for a while.

Vidar starts 'Well, from one side it is quite brutal what happened for them, but let not forget they were harsh and merciless to their servants - in one case it was halflings servants, if my memory leads me not astray. But not all nobles were murdered. Some escaped...'.

Dasyra sneers and nods 'Aye, those who planned in advance.'.

Vidar continues 'However, it happened not without a reason. And if that was the will of the folks, then perhaps that was the right way to do.'.

Dasyra folds her arms, frowning a little 'I don't think however that what happened to them was particularly brutal, though. It was much less bloodier than when an army of humans exterminates a goblin tribe.'.

Dasyra nods gravely 'They got what they deserved.'.

Vidar blushes 'Unfortunately, I do not have the book with me. I put it into the saddle bags along with my donkey, that is stabled in Waterdeep. But I rely on your very good memory, Dasyra'.

Vidar turns pale 'Aaah... yes... they deserved...'.

Dasyra tilts her head 'I have a copy in the cottage if you want to check something.'.

Dasyra frowns slightly 'Something wrong?'.

Vidar looks mixed 'Uhm, no thank you Dasyra. I just recalled the last experience, of which I wanted to talk to you.'.

Dasyra nods deeply 'Aye, what was it? Now you really got me curious.'.

Vidar takes another sip and puts the cup on the bartable.

Dasyra drums her finger over the bar, staring at you slightly worried 'Did you get in trouble for being spotted with me or the goblin?'.

Dasyra purses her lips 'I am sorry for that.'.

Vidar smiles as he hears about the goblin, 'That is not the case. And I am not ashamed of that experience.'.

Vidar looks you in the eyes 'You know of the Kobold's Tower, I am sure.'.

Dasyra nods once 'I do.'.

Vidar supports his chin with hand and continues the story 'Well, I went there to seek out a lost mage. He wasa friend of another mage in Berdusk, who asked me for help.'.

Vidar goes on 'The Tower has its name for a reason, as you well know. Lots of kobolds! And going there alone was a bity risky. However I did manage to slay but a few of them'.

Dasyra pulls some hair in front of her shoulder, and combs it gently with her hand as she listens to your story.

Vidar adds 'However not enough to seek the mage himself. And so I needed to think of some help for me.'.

Dasyra hmms 'Have you thought of using the goblin as fodder?'.

Vidar keeps on telling 'And then I remember of a simple low-level incantation which renders the bones of a fallen being into the state of obedience to the mastering wizard or mage.'.

Vidar laughs 'Nonono, that would be unjust!'.

Dasyra frowns 'Unjust?'.

Vidar replies 'Well, why should I use him as a fodder? I did not intend to leave him there to his own death, unless of course, he could handle all the kobolds by himself'.

Dasyra asks confused 'Have you got something particular against kobolds?'.

Dasyra shrugs 'I don't see much difference in slaying a kobold or a goblin for a gain. It may not be the best of actions, but still, mostly the same thing from my point of view.'.

Vidar shakes his head 'Nothing at all, however they were standing between me and the lost mage, which rescuing granted me the possibility of being trained by the mage in Berdusk'.

Dasyra notes 'I tend to prefer goblins because they leave tips sometimes, unlike kobolds.'.

Vidar laughs politely 'I must then leave tips as well, in that case'.

Dasyra beams 'Oh, how ambitious. This is very clever of you. You used necromantic arts to gain more power.'.

Vidar goes on 'And to me, gaining knowledge is a priority, and therefore any means I could use at that moment were worth considering.'.

Dasyra nods approvingly 'It seems the lady Myn was right about you.'.

Vidar hmm's and looks curious at you.

Dasyra smiles lightly 'After meeting you we talked a little about you with the lady Myn, and we both expressed curiosity on how you would develop your potential.'.

Vidar scratches his chin 'I am curious as well...' and gives a smile.

Vidar adds 'It would be a priviledge to meet the Lady again.'.

Vidar adds quickly 'With you present, of course.'.

Dasyra nods deeply 'If you let me I will tell lady Myn of your ingenious and effective ways to solve the issue.'.

Vidar continues the story 'Well, you have not heard the rest of it!'.

Dasyra nods convinced 'I can also introduce you to a few necromancers if you want and if you can be humble and patient, although the lady Myn herself is well versed in those arts.'.

Dasyra blinks 'Ah, there is more?'.

Dasyra asks frowning a little 'Did you raise a horde to wipe the tower clean?'.

Vidar takes serious looks 'I will be considering this, but even a mere possibility of having a chance of talk to the necromancers of the Lady Myn id much honour.'.

Vidar smiles, takes the biscuit and eats it whole, and after a while continues 'Hehe, not at all, but it could look like for the outsiders. But that in a moment.'.

Dasyra grins and nods 'You will have for sure.'.

Vidar goes on 'So I raised a body of a fallen kobold. It was my first attempt at it, and therefore the created being was not... perferct and it took beating quite hard, as I did as well. So I had to retreat outside the tower'.

Dasyra glances at you and now listens quietly, making a nod from time to time.

Vidar tells 'Seeing the bad state of the created skeleton, I left it there to keep a watch, in case kobolds were going to sneak upon me from behind and found another corpse and created a second one, much more sturdier.'.

Vidar continues 'With his help I was able to find the mage and rescue him... however I returned to the tower, because I think there is a riddle to be solved there. Plus I discovered an interesting mirror, but of that later.'.

Dasyra frowns slightly 'This reminds me of the time I went with <redacted> on Maos. They were raising dead pirates and then they did some experiments giving them weapons.'.

Dasyra adds briefly 'Although then they cared to cover their tracks carefully.'.

Vidar nods and tilts his ears.

You nod at him.

Vidar smiles and speaks 'Perhaps I should do that as well.'.

Dasyra nods deeply 'Aye it was very effective. But try not to waste your potential as Nixa did!'.

Vidar turns serious 'But at that time, I believe it would not help me either. The Kobold Tower had another visitors as well.'.

Dasyra sighs and opens her arms 'The treekisser again?'.

Vidar looks curious 'Why you say so? How could she lose it?'.

Dasyra taps her chin 'Do you know Nixa?'.

Vidar nods, 'Aye, I do. She helped me out a bit in Waterdeep.'.

Vidar thinks and says 'She gifted me some scrolls with simple spells, I believe'.

Dasyra asks pensively 'But... did you meet her when she was still beautiful, with silky hair the colour of a starless night and her milky white face contrasting with them like a full moon?'.

Dasyra purses her lips 'Or did you meet her when she had been turned into the wretch she is now?'.

Vidar nods 'I believe that was the time - that was why I came to her in first place - it attracted me.'.

Vidar blushes and speaks confidently 'But do not speak of my attraction incidents. Since then I did not speak to her nor met her, so I cannot judge her now.'.

Dasyra chuckles 'Oh, it was pretty fine to be attracted to her back then. And it was a scandal that she was so desperate to find love despite her beauty.'.

Dasyra makes a grim gesture 'But then, she betrayed and chose the good folks of Waterdeep.'.

Vidar hmm's taps the pointing finger on his lips and utter 'Seems like we both knew her in her better days, then. Do you two meet from time to time?'.

Dasyra nods deeply 'She decided to leave the Church of the Maiden of Pain and because of that she was put through tortures so terrible I cannot even dare to imagine.'.

Dasyra makes an ample motion 'And now she is a hideous broken creature who can probably scare off a grimlock.'.

Vidar tells you 'And that is when she lost her beauty I presume'.

Vidar sighs and nods a few times.

Dasyra shakes her head 'Last time I met her was in Waterdeep when I was with Khara, before we went into the dragon's lair. She was extremely prejudiced and then her Tymoron friend came to her side.'.

Dasyra makes a dismissive gesture 'Nixa got what she deserved.'.

Dasyra nods deeply 'And she will still receive much pain and torment, be assured of this.'.

Vidar lightens up on face 'At least we have a fond memories, that is what enriches us, as well.'.

Dasyra rubs her hands 'The Lovites are not finished with her yet.'.

Vidar tries to give a smile, but it does not appear that easy.

Dasyra sighs 'Still, all that wasted potential is pretty sad. Thinking how she could have turned out and then, she decided to throw everything away to stay with those hypocrites.'.

Vidar speaks 'Perhaps she can come back, although that could be naive of me to think so.'.

Dasyra purses her lips 'When she met Khara and me she accused us of pursuing evil deeds that she could not stop, and she did not know what to say, when I told her we had just slain an evil elven lich some cycles before.'.

Dasyra shrugs 'Come back? The Lovites are not famous for forgiving.' nods 'But it is likely she will betray her new flock again, as she did with her first one.'.

Vidar looks with great interest 'Gods only know, what the future will hold for her. The only fact is, that she will never become a followe of Sune, Lady of Beauty, that's for sure.'.

Dasyra cackles amused 'Ah, that's not very likely indeed. As poor Jethral put it: as she is inside now she looks outside.'.

Vidar takes the second to last biscuit ' Wise words of him. And who be he?'.

Dasyra nods and gestures toward you 'But forgive me for interrupting, please g...'.

Vidar smiles and replies 'None taken. The conversation is when both sides have something to say'.

Dasyra replies briefly 'Oh, he was the fiance of the Tymoron Yumna, Nixa's best friend. Nixa always hated him and eventually had Yumna choose between him and her.'.

Dasyra nods deeply 'And Yumna chose Nixa, breaking up with Jethral. Now he is a broken man who has lost any faith in love.'.

Dasyra sneers 'What a remarkable achievement for an aspiring Sunite who should spread love in the world.'.

Dasyra tsks and shakes her head.

Vidar utters silently 'So many sad love stories...' nods 'and not a good sign of a promising Sunite, just as you say, Dasyra'.

Dasyra nods faintly 'Lady Khaniah said she is amazed at how Nixa is still able to cause agony and torment to all around her.'.

Vidar grasps his tea and takes a quick sip 'She only radiates around her, what is inside her. However, probably, she cannot control it, at that state'.

Dasyra nods slowly.

Vidar looks serious again 'Now, let me head back to the story'.

Dasyra makes a motion in your direction 'But now please go on. Who was this other visitor? Were you able to flee without being
recognized by them?'.

Vidar nods with respect to you 'You have a talent for foreseeing course of action, Dasyra, I must say.'.

Dasyra tilts her head hmming softly.

Vidar speaks emotionless 'However at that time I did not know what might come. Anyway, I and my creation were on high floors of the Kobold Towers as the new *quests* appeared.'.

Dasyra frowns 'These guests blocked the exits I suppose.'.

Vidar keeps on saying 'It was a human and a sun elf.'.

Vidar continues 'And before I could even say enything the human immediately took interest in my creation and claimed I created it.'.

Vidar takes his communication amulet in hand.

an amulet of communication glows briefly as Vidar activates it.

Dasyra frowns 'Some problem, Vidar?'.

Vidar looks pale 'Hmm, not sure, but probably yes.'.

Dasyra nods deeply 'With few exceptions elves are very nasty.'.

Dasyra makes a grim gesture 'When I see one of them, I have always to be ready to run for my life.'.

Vidar puts the tea cup back on the bartable, 'Looks like I am searched by the Deathlord of Kelemvor himself'.

Dasyra asks frowning 'So they reported your actions?'.

Vidar nods to you still pale 'At this moment, I feel excatly the same - just run and do not look back...'.

Dasyra gasps '*That* is a big problem.'.

Dasyra frowns 'You may want to move for a while in the Underdark, darling.'.

Dasyra nods deeply 'Scrying and teleport does not work down there.'.

Dasyra hmms 'I guess you have been reported, then.'.

Dasyra nods gravely 'Well, that's pretty bad. It is true that necromancers get discovered sooner or later but... the first time?'.

Dasyra sighs 'The Maid provides.'.

Vidar speaks, his mouth dry from the stress 'I do not know... I just... The punishment has been done on me, then what else would they be wanting from me!'.

Dasyra says more sternly 'I think you have been a little naive, however, and I want to be sincere.'.

Dasyra lowers her gaze and sighs 'You risk being outed and singled out as a practitioner of evil and corrupted arts.'.

Vidar nods, still pale, 'I know, but that is the price of learning. With age one becomes wiser.'.

Dasyra purses her lips 'They will consider you like me or other monstrous creatures, unless you will kneel to their feet and beg for
forgiveness.'.

Dasyra considers 'It is also possible that you could be exiled from Silverymoon.'.

Vidar shakes his head 'Impossible! NEcromancy is a part of the Arts of Mystra! You cannot fathom the whole beauty of wizardry if you do not learn some aspects of all specialities of wizardry!'.

Dasyra opens her arms 'But I don't know much about that.'.

Dasyra inclines her head 'Necromancy is an evil practice, and I tell you this as someone who has tainted blood and has grown up around zombies.'.

Vidar holds the amulet again and tells you 'They want me to come to Waterdeep.'.

Dasyra sneers 'Then of course, I can't give a damn about that and I think it is worth doing it for a good gain.'.

Dasyra nods convinced 'But that's what it is.'.

Dasyra waits a moment and then suddenly asks 'Do you want that I come with you there?'.

Dasyra precises 'At least, near there, I doubt I could go out there in the open.'.

an amulet of communication glows briefly as Vidar activates it.

Dasyra nods firmly 'Anyway, I will speak of this with the lady Myn, and maybe some others.'.

Dasyra ponders 'If you manage to clear your name, you will need to learn several tricks, such as nondetection and some more things.'.

Vidar shakes his head to you but gives a bright smile 'That I could not ask of you. And you have proclaimed a great sacrifice by offering your assitance to me'.

Dasyra seems about to say something but then remains silent.

an amulet of communication glows briefly as Vidar activates it.

Dasyra simply says 'Be careful out there.'.

Dasyra inclines her head 'Oh, and don't try to tell them you were not here at the Haze with me. They have already scryed you for sure.'.

Vidar releases the amulet from his grip 'I have gained some time. The Deathlord will contact me when it is suitable for him, but one day at maximum I have gained.'.

Vidar nods 'Oh, yes. They have smarter people there than me. Thats why I am not a Lord myself ' tries to give a small smile.

Dasyra nods slowly 'Use the time well. What options have you got?'.

Dasyra asks pensively 'Anyway, what happened after the elf and the human spotted you?'.

Vidar takes in a long breath and then slowly exhales, which significantly calms him.

Dasyra hmms 'Do you want some poppy mallow?'.

Vidar sits down again, this time by the table.

Dasyra nods deeply, smoothening her dress 'I suspect tea is not enough for that.'.

Vidar smiles kindly and says 'That would be nice, although I have no idea what that is'.

Vidar finishes his tea and puts it on the table.

Dasyra chuckles 'Then let me fix that.'.

Dasyra winks and heads toward the courtyard.

***************************************

Dasiana sways between the tables effortlessly, managing to smile at you as she does.
Dasiana says to you 'Good day, Dasyra.'
Dasiana says to you 'Been fairly slow.'

Dasyra returns holding a small bowl with milky liquid inside.

Dasyra nods gracefully and places the bowl in front of you 'Here you are.'.

Vidar picks interest in the intriguing liquid.

Dasyra reaches for the porcelain plate.

You give a bowl of poppy mallow to Vidar.

Vidar grabs it with both hands 'Thank you, Dasyra.'.

Vidar smells it 'Has a strong alcoholic taste, I must admit'.

Dasyra chuckles 'It won't make you drunk, but don't feel strange if you see some strange things around. It is normal.'.

You close the purple door.

Vidar takes a bit long sip 'And it has a mix of sweetness as well. Wow, quite a ride'.

Vidar smiles, appearing to be more relaxed.

Dasyra leans against the bar, listening attentively.

Vidar takes a second sip, this time smaller, and puts it on the table, 'To finish my story.'.

Dasyra blinks 'Oh, can you describe me how the two looked like?'.

Vidar starts 'The human and the elf, then. And the human was not at all calm seeing the creation. And so I tried to change the subject about some weird coins found in the Kobolds Tower but he was so focused on the subject'.

Dasyra nods gravely 'I bet.'.

Vidar nods 'The elf is easier to describe as she immediately caught my attention with her strawberry-golden hair.'.

Vidar continues 'But then she immediately left, as the human, quite normal, clad in armour, reached for his (purple, I think) sword. So I convinced admitted that the creature is under my control and no harm will fall on them.'.

Dasyra nods briefly 'It is not hard to find people willing to assassinate elves, in case you want revenge.'.

Dasyra facepalms 'You admitted of being the creator of the zombies?'.

Vidar adds 'And then he was communicating through the amulet.'.

Dasyra exclaims shocked 'Vidar!'.

Vidar makes huge eyes 'What? I find it proud to be able to do such things, as others cannot'.

Dasyra sighs 'It is all right to be proud, but you should have gone great lengths to deny any involvement with those creations'.

Dasyra points at herself 'You are not like me, who can afford to claim of being evil and wicked, because my best option is scaring them off.'.

Vidar takes another sip of the beverage and relaxes 'Probably, I should be called Vidar, the Naive, dunno.'.

Dasyra nods sternly 'You should have exploited your origins and manners to deny any involvement, practising such arts in secrecy.'.

Dasyra nods 'At least you don't go around wearing a skull mask, I will give you that.'.

Vidar nods 'That was in secrecy, until this lot came to the Tower.'.

Dasyra notes 'Also, that tower is a bit too crowded to practise those arts.'.

Vidar holds the bowl in his hands 'I would not say so. Have you encountered the mudmen just outside the tower. Quite hard to beat down.'.

Dasyra mutters 'There are many seeking the secrets of the wizard Malagan, the old owner of the tower.'.

Vidar nods 'But I get your point, Dasyra'.

Vidar goes on 'Anyway...'.

You nod at him.

Vidar says 'That human, brown-haired (now I remember), asked suposedly for the help because then another figure appeared quite quickly'.

Dasyra hmms 'Brown-haired... do you remember anything more of him?'.

Vidar squints his eyes 'A Knight of Tyr, The Justice... Bah! If only they were just... rubbish!'.

Dasyra blinks 'I know a brown-haired Tyrran...'.

Vidar hmm's and adds 'He said he was a faith blade of Torm, if it helps you'.

Dasyra asks pensively 'How tall was he? Was he particularly ugly? Did he have wounds or bandages? Scars?'.

Dasyra considers 'Was he... a bit... limber?'.

Vidar nods feverishly 'Yes!'.

Dasyra opens her arms 'Ah, good, that's Jethral.'.

Vidar raises eyebrows 'Good? Well, wait until what I tell you.'.

Dasyra tsks 'Good that I guessed it, anyway, this gives you a few options.'.

Dasyra rubs her hands and grins slyly, nodding 'Go on.'.

Vidar shakes his head with smile and goes on 'Now knowing about the order of Torm, I knew that this young lad, Jethral, as you say, I knew that he has to be obedient to the Servants of Tyr - and that was a bit relieving,, for the Knight of Tyr appeared to be more tempered and patient than this lad. H' owever that was only my initial thinking.

Dasyra blinks 'Oh, I said Tyr, but I meant Torm. Sorry.'.

You nod at him.

Vidar adds 'I could have escaped then, but it looked like I still could talk my way out. Well, now that you have told me about the Necromancy being scolded, I know that I was foolish'.

Vidar goes on 'And perhaps I should have escaped, but I was doing no harm in my view. And so the Knight asked us what happened.'.

Dasyra concedes 'Just naive.'.

Vidar hmms and says 'Her name (the Knight) was Lustria. Maybe you know of her'.

Dasyra shakes her head 'Never heard of it. It is by chance and because of his foolishness that I know Jethral.'.

Vidar bumps his hand into the table 'Not naive! Those fair-harted fools are blind and biased!'.

Vidar blushes 'I am sorry for my temper...'.

Dasyra makes a superstitious gesture 'I generally flee from those zealots because I fear they may want to slay me.'.

Vidar utters 'Sorry for the table and my rage'.

Vidar looks down on his robe, soaking some bit of spilled beverage.

Dasyra sighs 'I can't blame them for wanting me dead, but you see, it is my life in question.'.

Vidar nods ' I agree, Dasyra'.

Dasyra makes a dismissive gesture 'Don't worry, we have had orc chieftains, you can't cause too much harm to the inn.'.

Dasyra nods faintly 'And anyway, I will charge you any damage you cause, just in case.'.

Dasyra cants her head 'So what happened with this Lustria?'.

Vidar smiles and goes on, 'Then charge well, cause it may be the last time I might pay you...Anyway...'.

Dasyra rolls her eyes 'I like how you consider the worst fate for yourself.'.

You nod at him.

Vidar responds 'My escape has been anyway barred with the brown-haired lad, who closed the exit door in the room when Lustria came in, so I had no chance but to comply.'.

Dasyra listens attentively.

Vidar takes a big sip and utters 'And so this Knight suggested a trial. Now, I though *Finally, who has some logic and who wants to finish this stupid quarrel as it should be* Boy, have I been wrong'.

Vidar continues 'I thought it would be an open public process but no - apparently the Knight had the right, by Law and by God, to judge me by herself.'.

Dasyra frowns gradually more and more as you speak.

Vidar adds 'And so we went outside the tower onto the plains: me, Lustria, the Tormian and two others witnesses, who saw the undead creature which I left patrolling outside the tower.'.

Vidar says 'So it looked like it was me agains the three witnesses (Tormian and two others), but I had great hope in neutraility of the Tyr Knight.'.

Dasyra arches her brows considerably, but remains quiet.

Vidar speaks 'And so I gave my defense. I spoke of all and hid nothing from him. Then the Tormian was allowed to speak and other two witnesses. Their version was in agreement with mine and there was no lie in it.'.

Dasyra tightens her lips, staring at you with an undecipherable expression.

Vidar speaks 'Seeing how nobody hides anything and being convinced of my wizarding purity I was hoping for a good turn of this trial. I have never been more wrong'.

Dasyra shakes her head solemnly 'You weren't, definitely.'.

Vidar looks down and speaks slowly 'I was found guilty.' nods 'And as a punishment, for creating two *abominations* (in their eyes), they chopped off my two arms...'.

Dasyra blinks 'This is... horrible.'.

Dasyra exhales slowly 'The Maid provides.'.

Dasyra adds briefly 'I am sorry.'.

Vidar takes an angry grimace 'And apparently by saying untruth, they have taken an expensive diamond-tipped wand from me.'.

Dasyra inclines her head 'By saying untruth?'.

Vidar adds 'They should know that the hands to the wizard are like hands to a guitarist or other worker who survives only thanks to his hand-work.'.

Dasyra replies serious 'They perfectly know, that's why they cut them.'.

Dasyra nods faintly 'They are not much better than the Lovites, but the latters at least are more sincere in their intentions.'.

Vidar nods and adds 'In my frst part of my defense I told them that those skeletons were created by telekinetic magic which binds the bones together. But it is truth! I felt it! I felt the energy raising and moving and combining the bones forming the creature. It was a teleki' netic type of magic.

Vidar adds 'No flesh or blood was even enchanted, just the pure bones were moved and clutched together.'.

Dasyra glances at you confused 'Eh, my father was a wizard, but I don't know much about those things. You should speak of that with lady Myn, I can hardly understand what you are saying...'.

Vidar frowns and sighs 'But those fair-hearted fools deemed it to be necromancy. Then who should know better? Of course I told them after hearing the verdict, that I want the trial to be remade in presence of wizarding community, but those fools.'.

Vidar adds 'I even told them I was a Conjurer from Silverymoon. They should have brought me to Silverymoon in front of the Wizarding Council, but no...'.

Dasyra arches her brows 'I am not a wizard myself but it was clear what you used was necromancy.'.

Dasyra winks 'You should have told them you were an illusionist.'.

Vidar shakes his head 'No... I felt it... it was not this... I can't be mistaken...' snorts 'An illusionist? Like my father!? That he would like me to be, but I disobeyed.'.

Vidar adds 'And after the sentence being carried out I went back to Triel to recuperate and then I travelled here, to you, Dasyra - the only being I feel who can share the same thoughts and understand me'.

Vidar finishes the beverage.

Vidar drinks milk from a bowl of poppy mallow.

Vidar stands up and goes to the bartable and finishes the biscuits.

Dasyra shakes her head 'You don't have to be one, but since illusionists are forbidden from using necromantic spells, pretending to be one would put you beyond suspicions.'.

Dasyra nods faintly 'Yes, I can... feel some of that. Although my situation is much different.'.

Vidar smiles friendly 'You see, Dasyra. Sometimes I think you should be a wizard once - you are very clerev person - you would become a great wizardess or sorceress once'.

<At this point Khaniah and Dasyra begin to talk a little via amulet, although the exchange is not reported here>

Dasyra shakes her head 'I am fine being a waitress.'.

Dasyra smiles faintly 'I really feel as having a place, by doing this job.'.

Vidar nods 'Maybe I will join you one day as your help'.

Vidar sighs 'But I will come to the Waterdeep. Although it would be better for me to be judged in my homecity' takes the Silverymoon necklace to hands 'I have nothing to be afraid of, if deep inside I feel I did what was right.'.

Dasyra shakes her head 'Better not!'.

Vidar replies 'I only secured my own well-being and protection from goblins. Is that a crime to use the Arts of Mystra to feel safe?'.

Vidar looks at you 'I want to hear your opinion on this matter, if you please.'.

Dasyra turns to you 'Sorry, I was speaking with lady Khaniah. About which matter in particular?'.

Vidar replies 'About if I should go to Waterdeep'.

Dasyra considers 'Depends... but, why don't you come to Skullport instead?'.

Vidar takes his communication amulet and speak to you 'I will try to ask if a Wizarding Council can be present there as well, if it comes to trail in Waterdeep. I do not want to be surrounded by priest only and *treekissers*' smiles.

Dasyra ponders 'You could go to Waterdeep and blame your penchant for necromancy on <redacted>.'.

Dasyra shakes her head 'You should better admit to your *errors* and let them believe they subjugated you.'.

Dasyra nods deeply 'Then continue to pursue them in secrecy.'.

Vidar stands up and walks around as he speaks 'Because something has to be done, Dasyra. It cannot be that creatures fighting for their lives are to be punished just by using the arts of protection which is deemed unnatural by others.'.

Dasyra facepalms 'You will be punished for that, in those lands, and you'd better learn it fast, or you will meet a quick end.'.

Dasyra nods deeply 'You must be more careful.'.

Dasyra nods again 'By the way, I am soon joining lady Khaniah on a trip to Skullport.' pauses 'She has graciously extended the invitation to you as well, would you like to tag along?'.

A shimmering gate forms in front of you!

Vidar stops his walking and comes closer to you 'I know, Dasyra. You speak wise and well-thought words, but what if it happens again? Something has to be done. And I don't feel guilty.'.

Vidar look surprised.

Vidar points to the portal and then wields a weapon.

You exclaim 'Come on!'

enter
A thin game trail
E-The bottom of H W-Inside a Brambl
The dirt below your feet is packed hard. Spots of what appears to be blood
follow the barely perceptible tracks of wolves and boots. The appearance of
ruts in the trail is also noticeable, as though something or someone is being
dragged along the path. The trail continues into a thicket of brambles to the
west, or slants sharply upward to the east.
The sky is cool and cloudless and a cold northern gust blows.
A misty portal beckons you to the unknown. (superb)
Khaniah is meditating peacefully here
After that the three go to the Underdark into an expedition that ended quite badly. :P

Good log. I love to see the humanity come out from complex characters that may not fall so clearly on the good side of the scale.
