Steel cooking knives

Post by Katheryn » Sun Jan 12, 2014 6:14 pm

I had this happen earlier...
You wield a steel cooking knife in your right hand.
At least you can hold a steel cooking knife correctly.
A steel cooking knife feels nice and light to you.

You get a ripe kiwi from a small wicker basket.
You hold a ripe kiwi in your left hand.
You carefully cut the kiwi into slices.
You put some kiwi slices in a small wicker basket.

You get a ripe kiwi from a small wicker basket.

You carefully cut the kiwi into slices.
No luck! The blade of the cooking knife breaks!
After two kiwi's, the blade broke. I'm going to suggest that they be made of more durable stuff as two kiwi's would not break any knife, ever. I know they aren't very expensive to buy, but when it's naturally the last knife it's a little frustrating. I don't know the code involved, but I imagine a steel knife would cut through more than a few fruits. They may be weak due to uses on other things...maybe collecting hides? I can see that breaking after the second go...but this is specifically labeled a cooking knife.
Just because someone stumbles and loses their way does not mean they are lost forever. Sometimes we need a little help. It is the greatest gift we have - to be able to bear pain without breaking, and it's born of the most human power: Hope.

From my own cooking experience, knives seem to break randomly. I have had them break on the first fruit, others can go ten or more without breaking. That is why my druid's bag tends to have multiple cooking knives. They may not cost a fortune, but it is a bit of a letdown when I snap blades after one or two slices.

This is the result of a program on the fruit (the knife itself is fine). I will look at it in more detail and make changes as necessary.

Thanks for pointing it out.

Update: I removed the 2% chance of a knife breaking. This change is pending a game update.
