RMI gauntlets changing type

One of my alts has a pair of gauntlets that he's had for about a month now that has changed class and no longer has the masterwork tag. They were full plate masterwork but now appear when checked as plain studded leather. My ac value has show a change on the score sheet to reflect this, so it is not simply a cosmetic matter unfortunately.
<worn on hands> damascened steel gauntlets (perfect)
It is in perfect condition.
It is studded leather and is light armour.
It is just the right size for you to wear.
It can be picked up, worn on the hands.
It is worn as armour.
It is medium in size and would fit a humanoid.
Steel gauntlets not being armor?

There's a scarred man (veteran fighter) in Tempus temple in Berdusk selling stuff. Among the stuff, there's "steel gauntlets with silver trim". Examining them gives the following echo:
"It is in perfect condition.
It is cloth and is not armour.
It is almost too large for you to wear.
It can be picked up, worn on the hands.
It is worn as armour.
It is large in size and would fit a humanoid."
??? I admit I'm severely confused. How can it be steel and cloth at the same time? How can it not be and be armour at the same time?
Please fix.
Thanks in advance.

Both of these reports refer to objects from the loot table, but I just checked and both appear to have their intended values. The instance in Berdusk and the set carried by Dovan's alt are full plate and steel. Please post here if there are additional issues with this item, but the current ones appear to be resolved.

Just happened with my alt, Thohel.
You get blue steel gauntlets trimmed with brown feathers from a large brass chest.
You see nothing special.
It is in perfect condition.
It is studded leather and is light armour.
It is almost too small for you to wear.
It can be picked up, worn on the hands.
It is worn as armour.
It is small in size and would fit a humanoid.

It is only temporary though, correct?
This appears to be random and temporary. I would like to define the problem a little more before we take it up to Mask.

I had a hunch so I fiddled around a little and it seems that newly-generated gauntlets of dexterity are created now as either cloth or studded leather, dependant upon their quality whereas as far as I know they all used to be full plate.
Since this seems a little more sensible than all the full plate gauntlets of dexterity, and also closer to what's written in the wondrous items section of the D20 website, maybe this change is intentional but the code used to describe the random items may have been missed?

That appears to be part of it. The other part is that they are still material steel despite having new armor types. I will ask Mask what his intent was for this.
Thanks, Enig.

The steel and studded leather combination is not a bug per se. That is how those items are coded. I flipped through the loot.dat file and this will need some attention from Mask in order to rectify.

Maybe we should stop using 'steel' as a descriptive there? If we just leave gauntlets as gauntlets then they'll always be free to be whatever the dice rolls. (When Marty gets into/opens the file for someone) That way stuff like this doesn't come up. This one for example still isn't clear really. I read it as they're steel with brass studs.

Yes, but he will have to make that change. The loot.dat (which generates adjectives) is easy to change, but it does not control what it changes; he would have to change how the table treats that item.

'
Gauntlets' are the name given to studded leather/leather/hide/half-plate/splint/banded and full plate armour covering the hands - sorry if it's confusing
