Mending

Post by Andreas » Sun May 30, 2004 8:08 pm

From 2nd Ed. PHB p. 176

Mending (1st Level Spell)
(Alteration)
Range: 30 yards
Duration: Permanent
Area of Effect: 1 object
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1
Saving Throw: None

This spell repairs small breaks or tears in objects. It will weld a broken ring, chain link, medallion, or slender dagger, providing but one break exists. Ceramic or wooden objects with multiple breaks can be invisibly rejoined to be as strong as new. A hole in a leather sack or wineskin is completely healed over by a mending spell. This spell does not, by itself, repair magical items of any time. One turn aftr the spell is cast, the magic of the joining fades, and the effect cannot be magically dispelled. The maximum volume of material the caster can mend is 1 cubic foot per level.

The material components of this spell are two small magnets of any type (lodestone in all likelihood) or two burrs.

In FK terms this would be a Transmuter spell. Mages might also be able to get it. Small metal objects could be repaired (i.e. daggers) from VERY GOOD or maybe as far as GOOD condition back to PERFECT. Cloth, wood and leather objects could be repaired from any condition back to PERFECT. Magic items would not be repairable with this spell.

I know I've been off somewhere and something gets damaged and I wished there was a way I could repair it. I think this would be a nice addition to the spells on FK and allow PCs the oppurtunity to interact for repairs when the shops are closed or too far away to be convenient.

I think Llanthyr's Mending is in game as a researched spell.

Yep yep. Like Balek, said, already in the game.
Glim asks Gwain 'Can I be on the watch?!?'
Gwain raises an eyebrow.
Gwain seems to display a look of complete horror for a second...

Figures.

I guess I'll just stick to suggesting paladin stuff.
