[Mount] Quantity doesn't feel intentional. Disrupts RP

Post by Alitar » Sun Dec 09, 2012 4:43 pm

Alrighty... my griffon pooped 30 times over the course of a short RP. The other person's mount pooped 0 times. Is this a bug? Or is there a cork I can buy somewhere...?

No. There is a 1% chance that your griffon poops. See Tom Stoppard's play Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead for more illuminating information mishaps in probability.

This is a recurring issue with my mount. It's constantly pooping. I don't know how the poop thing works, but when I'm alone with it I could believe the 1% however the more people present the greater its chance is. Without exageration, approx. 82 minutes of being online resulted in more than 45 manure drops. I don't know what triggers these checks but it appears to involve multiple PC in the room with it.

I've noticed this as well, but it seems to happen even when no other PCs are around -- possibly any other mob / character in the room does it?

Having it sit used to be a short-term work-around. Any success for you?

I'll try that and let you know.

You could try adjusting it's diet, feed it less prunes and fibre.

Confirmed the excessive-ness of Diritas's pooptastic griffon. 7 piles of manure in just over 13 minutes of RP. Perhaps he is trying to drown his Banelord in poop, in which case... That's a new tactic. I have had similar issues with the griffons from Waterdeep (in the past, I don't use them any longer, partially due to this).

We promise no one made his specific griffon a poop machine, and when Harro says 1%, it is in pure fact, 1%. ;)

The prog is random, only affected by sector(Which does NOT increase the 1% regardless. I'm pretty sure it's just to stop them from pooping inside stables!). So no, the amount of people is not affecting your griffon. The prog may only be edited via file, thus every griffon would change and yours personally is not the sole poop machine of fk. Your grey griffon has the same exact coding, a 1% chance, as every other griffon in game.

You just have .. bad luck.. dun dun dun. ;)

So THAT is what the luck score affected! Explains a lot. ;)

More for me.
Justice is not neccesarily honourable, it is a tolerable business, in essence you tolerate honour until it impedes justice, then you do what is right.

As someone who was trying to RP with Diritas while his griffon was, apparently, suffering possibly fatal diarrhoea, let me just say that it is extremely distracting. And it's not just griffons; I remember a similar problem a while back with Ceir's horse that became both ridiculous and impossible to ignore. It's not a 'just RP it' thing as no real animal could possibly poop that much in such a short time.

Perhaps it's working as designed, but if so, I really think the design could do with a tweak! For example, a 25% chance of pooping every 15 RL minutes?

You have obviously never worked on a farm! lol I would agree though, there are times when it seems that an animal has ingested quite a large portion of green hay.

While part of me is tempted to adjust yours, Diritas, to poop 50% of the time because this has somehow escaped need for the better part of ten years and now I am wasting time on it. Still, I will look at making this have less than a 1% chance in the spirit of Christmas.
