Rangers & Medium Armor

Post by Kinni » Tue May 07, 2013 12:53 am

Hello,

I saw an old conversation about medium versus light armor in regards to metal, for rangers. However, I have a different sort of inquiry. Hide armor, such a bear skin and the like. This armor is listed as being medium in nature but seems entirely appropriate for rangers. Is this acceptable for them to wear?

Technically it would be. SRD rules that you lose the benefits of your combat style if you wear it, but since we don't get those anyways, it's not code abuse. ICly, it'd be more restricting than rangers would typically be comfortable with. Mechanically - as a lot of the skills currently seem to go by armor weight/type rather than armor check penalty, you'd be taking a large penalty over any light armors.
