I recently heard that Drow had been removed from character creation, then tried it myself and found out that it was true. I had noticed that things were slightly more dead in the Underdark than usual, with no new Drow around as there used to be occasionally, but I hadn't given it much thought. I am just wondering why there are no new Drow allowed? Since we're not allowed onto the surface, it doesn't seem like Drow could cause the problems they used to, or Orcs did more recently, by not playing as they were supposed to. I'm just wondering if the administration would like the Drow to take a break and not have to worry about them until the new character system is installed, at which point I can assume that something would be different. The only other thing I can think of is that you just don't want anymore inexperienced players startiing Drow and want to leave it to those who have gained the kismet when the new system comes in. I can understand this of course, and would completely respect that decision.
As I seem to be the only Drow player who is both regularly online and have no alternate character, I don't expect anything to change for me, and if the Underdark is going to be dead for a few months while this sort of stuff is sorted out might well be the impetus I need to test the waters with a surface alt. I just didn't think it could hurt to ask, I enjoy my character and FK very much, even the limited bit of it I have seen underground, and would love to continue to develop him, but if it isn't really feasible for a while, I'd take the occasion to try a surfacer until Menzoberranzan is reopened.
