Spell Ranges

It looks like the helpful for this topic has been under construction for some time now. (Apologies if this has been asked and answered somewhere else already.)

Would someone be able to provide a list of definitions for the different spell ranges? Some of them are self-explanatory, but others are not so clear (e.g., how do "short" and "close" compare? Does "area" ever affect rooms outside the caster's current square? etc.).
