It looks like the boards ate the original post on this, so I am posting again:
When submitting to the publications email address, please send in your submission in plain text formatted to 70 chars per line and twenty lines per chapter, with a character return at the end of each line.
Plain text means to submit in either Notepad or Wordpad. Not everyone uses Microsoft operating systems and not everyone has emulators that allow them to read Microsoft products.
This also means, please do not put it in the body of the email itself. A lot of email programs do auto-formating and this will make it very difficult for me to fit in to the format we use for the book templates.
If you do not follow the format, I will return the publication to you the first time. If you continue not to follow the format, I will simply delete your submissions.
Please check for spelling and grammar. If I see more than two spelling errors or more than two glaring grammar errors, I will return the publication to you for correction.
Please do not ask when your publication will be in the game, when you will be paid, when you will get your XP and glory rewards, ect. Putting publications in the game is a collaborative effort that takes a minimum of two people many, many hours of work.
Publication Guidelines
Erm... hello. I am not sure if I am allowed to reply anyway, but... erm... here we go anyway.
*cough*
The first publications I sent off, were returned to me. I had not followed the format. However, I had tried to get the words to fit properly, and followed through with the chapter limit, etc.
The second publication, I actually put it into the Notepad, etc, and was confident it had followed the correct procedure.
This is not a moan, nor a gripe at all, just a question, and not intended to add to workload or anything, as I quite understand that people dealing with publications are extremely busy.
Is it possible to get an email saying that the publication has been received, and is being worked on? Because otherwise, those who have already used there "send back when wrong" quota, will never know if they have done it correctly or not.
Once again, not intended as a moan - I admire fully the incredible work that goes into this MUD.

If you have knowledge, let others light their candles with it.

I recieve an average of 100 emails a day, this does not include spam, these are all legitimate emails. Not all of these have anything at all to do with Forgotten Kingdoms. If I tried to send an aknowledgement back for every publication email that I get, I would not have time to do the publications themselves, we do get quite a few of them. That is evident from how many books we have in the game.
If you send it in the format that is outlined above and I recieve it, it will be put in to the game. This morning I went through about thirty publications, and over half of them were not in the correct format. As I had to send emails to the people who needed to fix something, I did not get to finish all of the publications and it will probably be at least another two weeks before I have the time to do the publications again.
The essential message is this: Please use the proper format.
