Bastard swords and katanas

Post by Jerrel » Tue Apr 07, 2015 2:46 pm

On the helpfile for "great blades" bastard swords and katanas are listed with the note about serving as great blades when wielded with two hands, and otherwise when wielded with one, but I was wondering if they require exotic weapon proficiencies as well? I'm guessing yes, since on the helpfiles for "double-edged blades" and "single-edged blades" both bastard swords and katanas are listed as needing exotic weapon proficiencies, but that note isn't there in the "great blades" helpfile, so I wanted to double-check.

I believe in tabletop the bastard sword at least is considered an ordinary martial weapon when wielded with two hands, and only requires exotic weapon proficiency when wielding one handed, to represent the special training needed to do so. Not sure if it is the same in FK. I would test it on Mathuin, but he all ready has the feat for it.

Yes, Mathuin is correct. Both are considered exotic weapons only when wielded in one hand.
What are you talking about? What, that guy?
That was like that when I got here.

Just as a note, bastard swords wielded two-handed SHOULD be counted as non-exotic but the game doesn't recognize that at this time (just tested). It currently seems to view bastard swords as exotic no matter how they're held.

Yeah, this is what I also found, prompting the question.

I will add this to my list of things to be looked at for the future.
A goblin, a trickster, a warrior? A nameless terrible thing, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. A most feared being in all the cosmos. Nothing could stop, hold, or reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.
