So, odd question... But does anyone know whether one can increase one's search skill through use like any other skill or spell?
I ask because on one of my alts I purchased a single train in the skill and, after many, many more than 50 (lost count) successful revealings of hidden things, I hadn't gotten a single skill increase. INT on that char is 14, so I definitely would have expected to improve. But nadda.
Perhaps it's just a super difficult skill to train?

Re: Search Skill Practice
I think the things "search"ed for are mostly quest items that even if PC who doesn't have the skill trained can still find by typing "search." As far as I know, there's very few hidden objects, therefore few chances to improve. My search skill still hasn't improved past inept.

Never seen an increase with my 20 int wizard either.
I trained up double-edged bananas because the uber-plantain of doom I scored from the beehive quest was the best weapon in the game. Now it's being treated like a bug and they have gimped its damage! That's not fair! My character is ruined!

In that case! I'd urge builders to start using traps/locked doors/hidden items not loaded through progs and so forth! Make adventuring something unexpected and grand annnnd! Make people wary again of negative energy traps that can decapitate lol!
