So I have an old wemic character that I made ages upon ages ago. I searched the forums for an answer to my dilemma, but nothing quite told me what I'm trying to find out.
How acceptable is it to bring a wemic into a city/town/village? Without going into cities, I think it's going to be next to impossible to train levels/skills/feats/spells in the existing wilderness areas. There's also the issue of finding gear in wilderness areas.
I don't suggest that my character hang around the Market Centre and chat with folks, but can I bring him into civilized areas for training and gear that otherwise isn't available in wilderness areas?

Re: Wemics In Civilization
I say it really depends on the civilization. In a place like Waterdeep, adventurers are common and they come in all sizes and shapes. Having a lion's body might raise an eyebrow but probably not much else. Going to a little hamlet in the middle of nowhere will probably lead to you getting chased out by scared peasants thinking you were some demon-cursed being.
It'll be best to play like a ranger. Run into the civilization, buy arrows, get armors repaired, train up some stats, and get back into the wylds.

Re: Wemics In Civilization
I would think a wemic would not really be allowed to enter Waterdeep since basically they are kind of a "monster". Even more so with small villages and hamlets where a pitchfork might be ready at hand. They would be more welcome in communities with stronger ties to nature, such as ranger encampments and that, including societies that keep monstrous creatures around for whatever purpose.

Weit in der Champagne im Mittsommergrün,
dort, wo zwischen Grabkreuzen Mohnblumen blühn,
da flüstern die Gräser und wiegen sich leicht
im Wind, der sanft über das Gräberfeld streicht.

I don't know much of Wemics. Though I'd mostly agree with Larethiel. Adding that they would probably be tolerated in Luskan, Silverymoon, Aglorand cities. Basically anyplace accustomed to seeing "monsters" or anyplace highly tolerant -and- with ties to nature. I could see there being ways to probably enter other places for essential skills/spells on a limited basis, not sure though. May have to have allies go in to shop for specific things.

Wemic surely are not MS squatters. But there is Ardeep, people squat there a lot.
I don't think it's unreasonable to slip in and out of cities or even chill in an inn with friends now and then.

Cloak, poncho, cassock, murky Waterdeep weather, side street, no one can really tell, either its a hunchback or a bunch of gnomes with potato sacks on a shaggy pony.
Justice is not neccesarily honourable, it is a tolerable business, in essence you tolerate honour until it impedes justice, then you do what is right.

I was reading some stuff from the source books. Some older wemics would when they are slowing down and to avoid slowing the tribe would retire to small village and start a whole second life there. Wemics are wild and monstrous looking, but they also reasonable to a degree. They might chaif at big civilization but depending on the location could be accepted into a community, but that's more than likely closer to where they are from and so such.
