New trade Ale making

Post by Gratey » Wed Sep 29, 2004 5:51 am

Allright, What about a ale making trade? You have to have certain items to make the ale and you could sell them in your shop (if you have one)
I was thinking maybe Dwarves.

Ooo...I'll take some. Yeah, this sounds like a really good skill for rp purposes. Can you imagine a dwarf with a never ending supply of ale?

Sure! Can make mead and ale and wine....yay! Before long, you'll see more drunks! :)
Your punch viciously hammers a shark's abdomen.
A shark is stunned, but will probably recover.

Reply Re: Brewing - How would you do it? First off you would start with the quest to learn the trade, this would probably be learned from a barkeeper, or perhaps a dwarf (or a dwarven barkeeper).
He would send you off to gather the supplies needed. I'm not very accustomed to this myself, but I think it consists of barley, hops, and yeast.
Then he would show you how to mix them together, and seal them up in a barrel, and where to put the barrel and for how long to leave it.
From that basic practice in the trade you could then find other barkeepers or dwarves to teach you how to change the recipe (or adopt a whole other recipe completely) to learn how to make other drinks.
Or perhaps just as you get better in the skill you would figure out for yourself how to make different drinks.
There's a basic idea to build on, break down, use or lose

Reply Re: Brewing - How would you do it? Having family in KY I know a good bit about burbon. A person would need the ingredients first but they also need a certian type of wood barrel. Most Burbon is aged in a wooden barrel, and the type of wood has an effect on taste and such.

Taverns and brewers could negoitate or provide the brewer a salery and supply him/her with all they need. Maybe it is a bit too early to ask this but is a brewing trade going to be put in the game, my rp sort of depends on whether or not it will be added.

Re: Brewing - How would you do it? Its under discussion as to IF it will be a trade still. We were just looking ideas for how it would run, and using that for our discussion for IF we will make a trade of this skill.
I would not place any character depending on this immediately as it is uncertain as to what we plan.

Reply Re: Brewing - How would you do it? I was thinking that if we did have the brewing trade, which we should we could use the different farm villages around the realms for the grain or whatever for making the drinks.
And having the brewing trade would be nice for having taverns for dwellings.

Reply Re: Brewing - How would you do it? Another installment from my twisted mind. i was just pondering the beauty of brewing and came up with this neat idea. Mixed drinks. One could make a drink out of different kinds of ale. A kind of speciality drink so to speak. Just something to ponder.

Reply time Since brewing takes time, In most cases I think for the harder liquers a few months, or an entire summer, somthing like that, So do that for when they make the brew, make it so it won't be ready for a certain amount of time like two game months, then it should be sellable, and the profit would be fair because you are selling a whole keg. Look at the amount for just one glass or a bottle, sometimes 2-3 platinum, so if you make a rare brew such as elven spirits or dwarven fire wine, then make a full keg worth something like 10 platinum.
