Trade Focus in Mining

Post by Areia » Wed Apr 06, 2016 4:02 am

Have other people with this feat noticed much difference between their product before purchasing it and after?

I've recently purchased the feat for mining. It is the first time I've ever taken a trade focus feat. I can't yet speak on the supposed increased findings of rarer materials, but it seems like, at best, the number of successes and the quality of the ore produced has remained the same.

I can say that without a doubt that it does substantially increase the odds of finding a rarer ore. Whether it has a significant impact on the quality of the ore....i would say its hard to tell, if it does, it is a relatively small amount perhaps. I think it was helping the quality of the ore for a time before i became a master. Now that i am a master, it truely is difficult to tell in regards to quality.

I tend to find rare ores such as mithril very frequently. However, on the same note i tend to find mithril far more often than titanium, gold, or platinum. I have yet to mine in an area to my knowledge that has adamantine for any noteable length of time to say if the same holds true for that ore.

I kept records a while back and out of 30 veins, 8 were mithril, 3 gold, 1 platinum, 2 titanium, 1 ruby, 1 diamond, 2 sapphire, 3 emerald, 5 iron, 2 copper, 1 tin, 1 lead. That ratio has been about the norm since i took the feat.
Another batch of 30 was 11 iron, 7 mithril, 2 copper, 3 lead, 2 tin, 4 silver, 1 titanium

Before I took TF mining, i found those "rarer" ores far less frequently
