Because it's come up so often in rp..
Would it be possible to have a command to lose someone following you? Mostly because I think most people have experienced the mild irritation of being accidently towed along or towing someone else with follow on. Perhaps with some sort of check to see if you're strong enough to escape your follower?
I don't know if this has been suggested before, I did a quick search for it but didn't find anything. Just something to work like a group disband, only for following..

I believe there is a spell called Expeditious Retreat which increases a creatures land speed and general craftiness in a chase, but this could be implemented as a skill based on Dex?

It's more to remove the amount of times that you are or see someone being towed off out of the Square etc etc because they had followed someone to come in, and then both had forgotten about it. Whether or not you are following someone is not immediately obvious and the amount of times someone has had to rush back into the Square or inn or whatever or apologise to someone for apparently stalking them halfway across the city is...well, it's a lot!
What I'd like to be able to do is type, "lose Bob", say, and have the character of Bob no longer be following me without having typed anything on their part.
That way if they forget I don't have to OOCly nudge them or stand there patiently as a hint until they remember. And, if I have to rush off in a hurry I can do that without having to explain. It's not a particularly important or necessary change, just might be a nice idea to have.
I also don't know if it's possible to be followed by an enemy you're in combat with?

This would also be very useful for those time when people go link dead through no fault of their own, but are still following someone.

Some sort of countermeasure would need to be put in place to prevent such a command being used when the person following is unwanted, but has no intention of not following you - as when the Watch is pursuing someone, or when a hidden rogue/ranger is trying to track someone or something.
Perhaps FOLLOW vs. PURSUE/STALK where the former would allow a unilateral LOSE to work but the latter would not?

make it impossible to lose someone whilst your blood is still pumping from combat.
Or have a config that autotries to chase / keep following as an option / combat mode

I trained up double-edged bananas because the uber-plantain of doom I scored from the beehive quest was the best weapon in the game. Now it's being treated like a bug and they have gimped its damage! That's not fair! My character is ruined!
