Wooden weapons
I was sitting there the other day conversing with some orcs and we were talking about weapons, etc. The idea popped into my head of.....why can "a piece of wood" be a material type for weapon making? Wooden weapons I would think would be more than possible.
With less civilized areas like Orc village, etc....they would have wood weapons. You could limit possibly which classes you could make, but most weapons would be possible I would think. Mostly bludgeoning weapons, but anything with a point could be wood
Just thoughts

A young male human looks at your claw, his eyes widen, "Wha-what is that on your claw?"
You look to the claw, stopping abruptly
You yell, "Git et off! Git et off!" and begin to hop up and down, shaking your hand,
voice turning to a girlish scream!

I think this is a very good idea. Although I think it would go into a different trade than weaponsmithing. Because weaponsmithing is forming metal by beating it with a hammer, having a forge etc. and wood weapons would be more carving and a forge and hammer not necessarily needed. Overall I think the idea is a very good one.

Going further with this idea, I think it would be interesting to have crude weapons similar to such created with wood and stones . . . "a perfectly smooth stone" plus "a piece of wood", for example, could equal to: "a crude warhammer of stone" or something like that. Would put an interesting spin on weaponscrafting!

Further expand what Tandria and Tretch have said, after you have created basic wooden weapons, or have the skill enough to create a shaft, you could use such items in the game as:
Iron Nails
Claws (of various creatures)
stingers (of various creatures)
Fangs
piece of iron (or steel or titanium etc)
And make suchs things as :
A stick with a nail in it
Toothed wooden club
Iron bound wooden club
and so on.
As Tandria said, a perfectly smooth stone and a wooden shaft make a crude warhammer. I am not sure if Flint is in the game or something similar, but such could make a good head for a crude axe or crude spear
Such skills/trades are perfect for Orcs and Barbarians. The only drawback of course is that such weapon would never stand up to metal weapons and plate. While they are great for RP, this does put a damperner on any incentive to become proficient with the skill.
I still think ripping a branch of a tree and swinging it would easier

Adding on
Wouldn't you have to add string onto that to tie the stone onto the piece of wood...To make the blundging weapon...But I think that would be an awsome idea.

I like the idea, but there is already a way to make weapons made from wood and metal. Some weapons can't be made with just the weaponsmithing trade. You have to have some experience in Wood working too. SOme of the weapons are flails, and axes I think are that way. Oh well, good ideas though. I like em.
