High level players and breezing

Post by Algon » Tue Nov 02, 2004 1:50 pm

Was wondering what high level players are supposed to do in tearms of trying to level skills and spells? It is getting to the point that I am almost afraid to go anywhere to train for fear that someone will tell me that I am screwing up and should not be there alone. So my question is....how are we to know what areas are acceptable for high level players to train? Atleast in knowing I would be able to go and not be worried about getting in trouble for doing something I should not be.

Some simple guidelines that I think will help you along -
Do not train on quest MOB's
Try and train in an area that is equivilant to your level.
If you can clear or almost clear an area before repop, move on.
Do not train on MOB's that it would be OOC for you to do so.

There are good training areas for all levels (at least 2-3 for every level bracket) so if you follow the above you should generally be alright.

Hope that helps.

I agree,

The only other condition that I'd add would be this. Think how it looks IC'ly.

Even training is IC, and going into Feebov's for example, to train skills alone probably isn't very IC.

I don't know anyone that wakes up and says. "Hrm..well, I'm not perfect with my sword skills yet...why don't I go to the Mansion of a Dark Necromancer by myself see if I can destroy him and his horde of Undead Minions."

The other thing is, even if you just want to train, see if you can't find another person or two that's interested in training up some skills too...have them tag along with you, and make an adventure out of it.

Only problem with that is, I sometimes play in the morning where there few people on. Been many times I have been the only one on. So should I not play then because I cannot find someone to train with me, should I just sit around the square and hope that someone will log on soon? Most of the time I am killing ogres and giants during this time.....but I can pretty much clean this place out by myself....although I do get a considerable amout of damage done to me, usually down to like 40% by the time I am done. So does that make what I am doing wrong?

Ogre's and Giants are one thing, as there are a few novels about people fighting ogres and such alone, without much worry.

I think it's the really high end places that are the most worry. You should be fine. *grin*
