Churches closed to all but priests: Any room for Paladins?

I have a character interested in following Sune as a Paladin, but it has been posted that Sune`s church is open only to priests. In my personal experience, I have never met a Sunite Paladin... and I think it would be a fun roleplay. I was just wondering if theres any chance of my character following Sune with the intention of becoming a Paladin (in the order of the Ruby Rose). Thanks.
