Seven sisters of Mystra, and the pre-mystra mystra

Post by Elenthis » Wed Apr 27, 2005 12:02 am

I was wondering if someone else could answer a few questions...

1st: Did any of the seven sisters have children?

2nd: How long has it been (FK time) since the time of troubles?

Last: Did the pre-midnight mystra have any children?

I think that first part is kinda hard to answer... I mean you won't see a section in FR that clearly states "The Seven Sisters never had any children..." They might not now, but you never know in the next book.

I'm also wondering about how to RP a descendant to a God. Do you have to apply for everything? That means the entire race must come with an application.

No, that is not the case... an Aasimar or Teifling is usually the offspring of a lesser celestial or principality... a minor or major demon or devil, a solar or planetar, etc. I believe the help files for each race actually state that they are decended from at best a minion of a diety. These are not godspawn from the Time of Troubles, rather the spawn of outisiders in their course of summonings, visitations, etc.

Not to say that one of these races couldn't be the base of a godspawn RP, but to have such an RP would surely take an RP app with an already *very* researched and thought out backstory to back it up.

I haven't read it yet, but I am in possession of a wonderful little book called "Silverfall, Stories of the Seven Sisters" by Ed Greenwood. I think it's full of short stories as opposed to being a novel.

As for pre-Midnight Mystra, I don't believe I've seen or read anything to lead me to believe she's ever had any children.

Kregor:

Actually, some Aasimar are descendent from deities, usually those of Unther and Mulhorand, from when their deities ruled their realms in mortal aspect.

Though, I would very much agree with other mentions that playing a planetouched with that rather impressive a lineage would need to be applied for.

On a related note though, would you need to apply if you had an Aasimar and wanted to claim he/she was descended from a celestial servant of X Deity?

True, though I would think a Mulhorandi/Untheric planetouched would be a rare find in the hometowns of the north were FK has them emerge, rare enough, that yes, it should be an RP app. Allowing unrestricted RP of direct lineage from a diety would be akin to me RPing being the love child of Elminster and the Simbul without an app. ;)

Aye, we agree on the base principle ;)

Anyone can CLAIM to be a descendant of some celestial power or god, no problem there. To actually BE one you need to apply. The same goes for royalty, relation to a famous character (e.g. daughter of the Symbul), etc.

Oh, I'm sorry I missed the first part of your question.

Yes, at least one of the Seven Sisters has had a child.

If you want more specifics I can post them, but yeah, at least one has.

Laeral had a daughter who is being raised on Evermeet by special agreement with Queen Amlaruil.

By all other accounts (novels and resource books) none of the other Seven Sisters have had any children.

Dove Falconhand was pregnant and raising their son in a secure location.

But, other than that, it should be just Dove and Laeril

I recently read in a book that Alustriel also has a son. He is a commander in the Knights of Silver

I don't know what year we are at in game, since the servers down, but the time of troubles happened in the year 1358, just 208 years after Blackstaff came to waterdeep.

"We know that Chosen of Msytra can't conceive or bear
children except by will of the goddess. We also know
that ONLY Mystra is going to judge them, after so many
centuries of life (their peers, contemporaries, et al
died long ago, and only we readers and gamers looking
at the Realms even know of their heritage and first
relationship to each other at all). As the centuries
pass for both of them, it's less and less valid to
view Elminster as somehow "taking advantage of" or
"violating" Storm, if they did make love. I've written
before that none of the Chosen remain 'sane,' as we
consider people sane."
~Ed Greenwood

<edit>
Methrammar Aerasumé is a half-elven martial wizard, son of Silverymoon's High Lady Alustriel Silverhand and an elf, and High Marshal of the Argent Legion, the defense force and standing army of the Silver Marches. In this position he also has the seventh seat on the council of the Silver Marches as a peer.

Aerasumé constantly tries hard to live up to his mother's standards, feeling somewhat in the shadow of the great mage, politician, and Chosen of Mystra. Soft-spoken and humbly mannered, he has gotten much respect from the Argent Legion he commands though, and many follow him purely out of loyalty. He has a pseudodragon familiar called Beau and an intelligent magical bow called Swiftflight, a present from his half-brother Tyresia.
