Rage?

Post by Legault » Sat Jan 29, 2005 9:06 pm

Ive seen Tretch use this skill many times, and Ive checked all of the skill and spell lists (yes, I have a lot of time on my hands) and yet I cant find this. Ketlic says that only followers of malar can learn this. I know that preists of different faiths can do some different spells, but Ive never heard of fighters, rangers, wizards, bards, thieves, etc. to be able to get extra skills due to faith. :?:

I believe certain faiths do, depending on what their background is. Possible examples, (though these are guesses) are steal for Mask, hide for Shar, Rage for Malar, etc.

Also, to my understanding, these skills are gained through quests available through the temples of these faiths... though that's just what I think.

Did you check this skill/spell list? :)

Also remember that in special cases and under certain conditions long-term roleplayers can have the opportunity to receive spells and abilities from outside of their guilds. Examples would include long-term halfling, dwarven, or orcish wizards, which have been discussed in other threads on the forum.

It's also my understanding that Tretch isn't a Barbarian, he's a fighter. So he gained the skill outside of the Guild method, because I remember reading a message that no Barbarians were in game.

Rage

Post by Tretch » Fri Apr 29, 2005 6:58 pm

Barbs are on their way in so I figured I wuold post on this....

When the skill rage is used you get a bonus to CON. Should you get the HP from the CON boost be given to you?

The reason I mention it. When Tretch Rages, his HP drops into the 80s. Not really a huge problem, accept the Rage skill does not last very long and you dont have time to recover the HP.

So....you effectively are not getting the CON boost. Not a large deal either way, just bringing it up. THoughts?

From my recolection of d&d you gain the hp's that come with the con increase. And when the rage ends you loose the hp's. I remember because I remember the stipulation that something about them being only temporary hit points and if you took enough damage when you revert back to the non rage state you could die.

example....

Tretch has 50hp he rages and gains 10 temporary hp making his current total 60. He fights something really strong and it takes him down to 5hp before he ends the rage. When the rage ends it puts him at -5 and he dies.... well he is unconcous.

That is how I remember it at least.
I am ready to meet my Maker. Whether my Maker is prepared for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter.

You are not losing HPs.

Sharni
I am not losing HP, this i understand. My point is....the skill does not last long. So, I never actually get the CON bonus.

Example...I orginally have say....500HP. When I rage, it puts me to 500 out of 600. orr 500/600.

I have not lost HP, this is true...I have gained, BUT....the skill wears off before any HP is regened through time(ticks) so I drop back to 500 and actually never see any "bonus" HP

Basically, I get the POSSIBILITY of more HP for a couple minutes. The only way to actually recieve the CON bonus would be to "Rage" next to a healer and heal immediately.
