House ranks

Post by Lysha » Tue Oct 26, 2004 1:46 am

I just made a new Drow and was 'lucky' enough to be 'born noble.' I was wondering, what is the ranking of the houses? Thanks!

The house rankings on FK are as follows :

1st house - Baenre
2nd house - Armgo
3rd house - Tlabbar
4th house - Xorlarrin

Please note, that I got this from looking in the help files "help drow" and going from there. The information in there is great and a wonderful aid. Have a good read through and I am sure it will help you flesh out your drow RP.

Enjoy :)

What do you mean about rankings? Like Baenre is the highest ranking, most important house? Thanks.

Ranking means the power and influence the individual house has upon Menzoberranzan and the favour that Lloth shows to that particular house.

Ah, thank you for clearing that up. Sorry I did not read the help file, I didn't have access to the game, only forums.

hmm, so depending on the ranking, could a female of a lower house boss around a male of a higher house?

Yes.

The drowish social structure centers around Lloth, most likey because she is very possessive. She basically kills any drow that defies her will. Under her dogma, females are supierior. Because of this, any male found to be acting out is considered someone whom is attempting to overthrow Lloth herself. Now, if you kill an enemy of Lloth, your goddess would look favourably on you. Long story short, if you don't "act accordingly", people will use you as a way to gain social standing with Lloth.

The house rankings, on the other hand, are simply how much Lloth favors different families. Basically, if you were destroyed by another house, apparently, Lloth didn't like you enough to save you.

So, above all, it's gender. Then house. Then class.

Once again, straight from help files and past forum posts. Males are second to ALL females. The smallest, weakest, youngest commoner female can kick around a male from the first house should she please. Though the occassional male killing a female secretively out of revenge happens and males are sometimes ordered to kill one female by another.

Enjoy,

Technically you're correct, Stayne sums up the way it works in practice perfectly in this thread..

plus I think...if the male in question was in good favour of his matron mother..the commoner female who did that to the matrons luckily good favoured boy might have fun with said female ..least I think not sure 8)

It's all relative, a commoner female with any sense, isn't going to got talking jive to a noble, particularly one with any power...

She technically could, but wouldn't incase the noble females got on her case..

Or the male just gutted her where no-one could see..

It's a myriad of possibilities..

If you play a drow from House Q'Xorlarrin, please PM me with your PC name(s) and class(es).

A lot of the ranks do not seem to mean much of anything here. I have a house Banare female who told a commoner male to do something. He laughed in her face and said she was on a power trip oocly and went off to kill hook horrors. I quit playing my drow after that. =(

What should have happened is he should have been dead before the first breath of the laugh. Perhaps drow rp has changed in the last few months. I dunno.

The drow in person who laughed at your Baenre should be notified of how to properly RP a drow. If any male laughed at a female noble they would be killed on the spot. Just because code does not support (as in commoner is more powerful than priestess) it does not mean that it should happen.

aye that is bad rp! even a female commoner can boss a male noble...females are above -all- males...any male that laughed at your female drow...would be killed ...right then and there like telk said...-grumble-

Eh, not necessarily, a commoner or low ranking noble female with any sense would not attempt to kill a male drow when retribution would have been forth coming.

Killing a weaponsmaster or elderboy of a leading or influential noble house is a recipe for trouble.

But a Baenre priestess, now that's a whole different ballgame.
