changing guilds in a quest

Post by Elwin » Sun Jul 24, 2005 3:47 am

I was wondering if there was any way to set an if check on a certain guild. I was trying to make a way for evil fighters that had to join the WD guild to join the ZK guild without going through an app process or anything. If anyone knows of a way to do this, or can point me in the right direction, it'd be appreciated.

Probably someone with more experience would be better qualified to answer this but just to put in a suggestion:

Perhaps instead of checking for the guild, it could check for the qbits of the WD fighters guild?
Glim asks Gwain 'Can I be on the watch?!?'
Gwain raises an eyebrow.
Gwain seems to display a look of complete horror for a second...

If I remember well (but you should check with Mystra), the qbit is 700,0,1 == 1 when they have joined the WD guild. You can also check more broadly for guild($n) == Fighters.

Yet, I rather disagree with the idea. It is not because someone has joined the WD guild that they should be allowed to join another guild with no/less effort. Actually, I would rather think the contrary: if someone has joined a guild in the enemy city of Waterdeep, people of ZK would be rather suspicious about them and want to check them thoroughly, give them harder quests, and really make sure they are not Harper/Waterdhavian spies.

Remember that, when you write "fighters who HAD TO join WD guild", you are taking a clearly OOC point of view. ICly, the WD guild is certainly not the only way to become a fighter. So there's no IC reason to make it easier for them.

I had the same thoughts Dalyvn, I was not planning on giving them the same or easier quest. I was planning on making the quest fairly difficult for them, as most of the fighters in question are high level to begin with. And, I actually figured out how I wanted to do this after I posted, sorry. But I would still need the proper quest bits from the WD guild if I can get them. Thanks for the input though.

Also, I did not know that there was another way for a fighter from ZK to join the fighter's guild except to join the WD fighter's guild. Hence that is why I am putting in the prog, because for most ZK fighter's it does not make any IC sense to be a member of the Waterdeep guild.

Well, I have a check on their alignment already, and they cannot join if they are good. I suppose I could put down the hard quest for any Neutral fighters in Waterdeep. Thanks for the help :D
