Construction - Using material type plant?

Post by Janon » Mon Sep 01, 2003 7:35 am

For druids, rangers or maybe even everyone. Include the material type plant as a possibility for the construction of worn items. Examples of constructs could include the following:

a vine belt
a necklace of flowers
a grass skirt

Corellon's Cartographer

Don't forget:

Cord armor
Olive branch wreath
Wood/bark shields
Wood/bamboo splint/banded armor(ie japanees samurai armor)
Spears
clubs
staves
And the means to mend them too...

But as an added bonus, If a weaponsmith wanted a pole for the halberd he's making, he would either buy one or make one... added trade for rangers/druids making staffs so they can be converted to polearms. I haven't seen many polearms that were solid metal from tip ot end.

I split out the posts on elven metal, which had hijacked this topic, into their own thread. Please, please keep threads on-topic, it makes it much easier to find relevant ideas/information when it might be needed again in the future.

Relevant parts of moved messages were:

from Mingus...

Back to plant type:
Ropes and all rope related weapons. like lassos, nets, and bolas.
Bows(short/long/composite) and crossbows(hand/light/heavy boomerangs.

And to make it a bit more interesting handles for weapons, so a smith can make the blade part of a sword but not be able to make a finished product without a proper handle. Small handles for blades, ie swords; medium handles for long and short axes/hammers/picks/stars/flails; large for polearms. So essentially the smith can make the blade for the sword or the head for a spear but with out the rod/handle material they just wont get the end result.

from Stayne...

As for plants, I agree and would love to see it added, especially for such things as Dark Leaf.....
