What would be the situation if (this is a rehtorical question) a drow mage learned Teleport ? It appears on the spell list and it is conceivable that another mage could be convinced to teach it (or is it impossibel to scribe ?).
So presuming it is learned is there a limiation to not teleport to the surface ?

Teleport
hmm
I don't see why not, if the rules of teleport apply to one they should apply to all. If a Drow wizard learned teleport and had already previously been to the surface then I think he could teleport to wherever he had been. I don't think being a drow should make that any less difficult. Just my opinion thought.
I dont think its possible to be scribed...or it is not supposed to be.
I know my mage had a scroll of teleport that he got from a quest reward and he was not allowed to learn it from the scroll. Not sure if that was a bug or not, but I am pretty sure its not supposed to be scribed.

hehe well if they learned the spell if it's even learnable underground..they'd still have to have been to the surface I think to know where they are going..that or a scrying spell..but yea i Don't see why not as long as they don't go pull a drittz wannabe magey type thing!

Currently, all the underdark is flagged as NOASTRAL, which means that you can't teleport from/to those areas. So, basically, a spell like teleport would be useless to drow.
The reason for this is that we don't want high level surface wizards to teleport down there or for gates to be opened between the surface and Menzo allowing groups of surface dwellers to go down there and raid the city.
Maybe at some point we might consider adding a second spell or making it so that you can teleport as long as you remain in the underdark or something similar.

I'd just like to say that sounds extremely cool. Both gating and teleporting are fairly common within the Underdark. It'd be amazing if there was some sort of FLAG_UNDERDARK to place on all Underdark rooms to allow easier movement between cities and different areas for wizards.Dalvyn wrote:Maybe at some point we might consider adding a second spell or making it so that you can teleport as long as you remain in the underdark or something similar.
As a follow up if any change is being done could it affect magic mirror, becasue at the moment i can scry the surface, but not the underdark which seems a little the wrong way round. It almost seems like Drow should use inverse flags i.e. where a normal person cant scry and telport thay can, though i am sure there are some exceptions (would not want drow popping into Limbo or other protected areas )
