Since this isn't mentioned in help desc, I thought I'd put it out here-- is it allowable/encouraged/frowned upon to put a link to a picture of your character in their description? On the one hand I could see it giving more of an idea what they look like, but on the other hand it wouldn't look IC and since FK is a text-based game, it could be argued that we're well enough with just text-- besides which, it is generally difficult to find pictures to describe characters with a sub-Friendly CHA, so it might be a biased addition.

What if the description was text-based, with an "optional" link to a drawing of the character? I'm insisting on the word "drawing" here, no picture (and especially no picture of real people, famous or not)? The main description would still need to be text-based, but there could perhaps be a link in addition to the text?
I am actually biased, because I used similar links for some monster descriptions in a few of my areas.
Don't take that as a statement from the imm that it's fine to do so, I'm just contributing to the discussion, that's all.

RE: Character Pictures in Descriptions
I'd prefer to stick with pure text descriptions on the game and make use of the Player Artwork thread for links to character illustrations.
One thing that Dalvyn pointed out, and which I'm very keen to spot, is using pictures of real people. Be it a plain photograph or photomanipulation, making use of that material without the express, written permission of the subject and/or photographer is a violation of copyright law. There are some grey areas (i.e. it's a picture of you in costume or a picture of your friend that you took), but for the most part it's an illegal practise.
As a professional artist, I take this matter very seriously. Just because it's on the Internet doesn't mean it's free and available for use.
