Pray Command in New Faith System.

Post by Nysan » Sat Apr 29, 2006 1:57 am

Alright, adjusting and learning about the changes to FK while I was gone and I came across something I couldn't find an answer to. In the new faith system, faiths are headed by faith managers. From what I gather, these are trusted members of the faith that accept, quest, ect new members of the faith and maintain current members. Does this mean possible hopefuls still use the pray command? Or is this outdated by the enquire and apply faith commands?

By all means, toss me a link of a thread I overlooked.

You go to pretty much any temple of your choice and get your foot in the door...by Faith Enquire, Faith Apply, with any of the npcs about in there.

I don't think it's necessary to pray first - but I don't think it hurts either.

Thats why I asked. I'm stuck somewhere between the 'old-school' faith system of before I left and the new one. I'm used to using pray and getting in touch with folks through that. One of my characters was a hopeful in the old system, waiting to get a faith quest. Since I have been back, I have used faith-related NPCs to do enquire and apply, but have not seen anyone of his faith online during my play-time, let alone a faith manager. I've read the threads about what you should do if you were 'in-the-middle' when the new system went in, but without seeing any players of the same faith online when I'm on pray seems a good IC step. Wondered if it was still in use mostly.

I don't think there is nothing wrong with icly praying once to the diety you are hopeful of if you cannot find any other followers or even if you want to declare you are hopeful of them after even using the faith commands. This can help you be directed to those that might teach you about the faith or even give you your quest. You should still pray only once icly and only if you wish to, it is just nice to have a character driven system also. :D

Not all of the faiths have Faith Managers yet too. So you may have to wait until everything is finalized. Unless the deity steps in and does the faithing his or her self.

Thanks for the replies folks. Seen enough characters work their way to get their symbols to understand how long it can somtime take and I understand some things are still being settled in, so to speak. If I have to wait a year or so IRL for the character in question to finally get faithed, so be it. I'm patient. My long absence, all these new changes, and the lack of players of the certain faith left a few unanswered questions floating around. Glad there are still some old familar options IC, like pray, to answer some of them.
