Apologies to Argentia for deleting her post, but this sort of thing should be found out ICly. As it would have been told to you when you completed the quest to learn the trade.

I had thought about that....but what really made me decide to post was the massive help file for Weaponsmithing. It names about every weapon type there is in the file.
Finding out ICly I have no problem with...just thought I would ask :)

Trades are always available to everyone, regardless of class and in some ways, even race. I know that most of the armor smiths of FK are priests of Moradin, but I know of a fighter or two who can armor smith too. Technically, humans or even elves *could* learn it, although the mob couldn't/wouldn't teach them(ICly or by code, for various reasons) but theoretically a dwarf PC could teach them if they were so inclined.

This applies to all trades, be it leathermaking, weaponsmithing, armorsmithing, herbalism, ect. Although some trades simply would not make sense for some classes, IE staff and wand making for fighters.

So was I. :P Code-wise, certain mobs may not offer to teach you so-and-so trade if you do not meet certain stat/level/race/class requirements, but a trade can always be taught by a PC. But in the case of armorsmithing,(forgive me if this is too IC) as long as you are a dwarf you are eligable to learn the trade from a specific mob which shall go unamed.

Trades are not restricted by class, unless you consider the various items appraise looks at for each class. So it is quite possible to learn any trade with any class. However, mob coding and area restrictions can and do limit certain quests necessary to learn a trade in certain areas. A good example of this is only dwarves can enter MH, so only dwarves have access to trade quests therein. Other examples might be quests in areas your character shouldn't go, either hard coded with mobs to reject your character like Ardeep for example or common RP sense areas that follow the lines of "just because you can, doesn't mean you should" like going into a temple of an opposing faith.

So, no class does not restrict trades. Mob programming, area coding, and the desires of our friendly building staff do.
