Yuan-ti

Post by Travis » Mon Aug 08, 2005 8:26 pm

I've been wanting to make a Pure-Blood Yuan-ti Transmuter for quite some time, but my resources are very limited and I cannot find much information about that particular race, can anyone help me?

Lessee....

As to books:

Monster Manual (not sure which one)
Races of Faerun (probably your best bet)
Faiths and Pantheons (for yuan-ti gods)

I know of a couple games and the like that yuan-ti appear in (mostly as you killing them):

Icewind Dale (PC)
Demonstone (XBOX)

Sorry if this is not much help. Ill look around and see if I cannot find more.

Just a hunch, but maybe the book Serpent Kingdoms by Ed Greenwood?

Also, I have Powers and Pantheons and it looks like the only Yuan-Ti Deity is Sseth, AKA The Great Snake, The World Serpent, and the Sibilant Death. His portfolio includes intelligent snakes, yuan-ti, ect. and poison. He is allied with Talona and another Chultian Deity named Eschowdow. He is CE and accepts followers that are CN, LE, NE, and CE.

DOGMA: Serpents are the descendants of the original World Serpent, the embodiment of life, and are sacred manifestations of the Great Snake. By embracing Sseth and entwining oneself in his coils, true wisdom can be achieved and dominion over the Realms realized. Life is about transformation, an evolution through a series of forms toward an embrace of the all-encompassing serpant of the world.

The children of Sseth are to reclaim their birthright as they mold their image in the shadow the the World Serpent. Unceasing, frenetic activity is the province and eventual doom of Prey. Serpents are expected to spend long periods in torporific contemplation during which they may acquire wisdom and patience. Only after extensive intelligence-gathering on and extended contemplation of a situation are the children of Sseth to act, but when they do act they are to do so decisively and without mercy against the Prey.

DAY-TO-DAY ACTIVITIES: Ssethssar spend their days stalking and hunting their prey, whether is be jungle wildlife or human realms. Many spend their days courting government officials into their ever-widening sphere of corruption. Others breed new varieties of serpents adaptable to hostile climes in preperation for their eventual conquest of the Realms. All are involved in the slow accumulation of power and knowledge, but they can afford to be patient and act accordingly.
While the entry in the book is about Sseth, those two passages seemed to express Yuan-ti behavior rather well. They are patient, intelligent and arrogant beings. I believe that most Yuan-ti would venerate and worship Sseth even if they do not choose to dedicate their life to Him.(Like elves worshipping Corellon even if they choose to follow, say Chauntea) So in that sense many things that are true for Ssethssar might be true for Yuan-ti as well. But that's just my assumption.

Hope this helped!

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think the area support is in for Yuan-Ti yet, and thus not yet available as a valid choice in character creation yet?

Why not, until area support for other yuan-ti comes on, allow only tainted ones and pureblood yuan-ti (the ones that most resemble humans.), and allow them to start in Zhentil Keep, Skullport, and Westgate?
