Capped at master?

Post by Boe » Sat Mar 18, 2006 12:30 am

I have a character who has been training his mining abilities and have been tracking his progression. Since the update of the spell system I've found that he has not been able to advance beyond master (what he was at prior to the introduction of the system) and find it very strange. I have gone 1K+ successful mines without seeing a single improvement which does not go with the rest of the trade's progression rate.

If there is anything anyone can tell me, I'm all ears here.

To the best of my knowledge, no trades are capped below GM. However, some trades require quite a significant output between increments at the higher levels.

If your situation has not changed and you still feel something is awry, PM me and we'll arrange a time when I can look in and watch you work to see if you are progressing or not

Since we are resurrecting this thread, it brings something to mind. Mining is acting a bit weird on one of my toons as well. His smelting has gone up two gains while his mining has not gone up one. Considering past experience with trades and how I am only smelting what I mined, I thought this a bit odd but went with it. Since this thread has been bumped, thought I'd toss it out there for thoughts.

In my own experience across several characters, this is not unusual. Smelting is generally faster to improve than mining. My conclusion would be that fewer successes are required between improvements.

I bow to the vastly superior experience of the kindly Imm. No harm in mentioning it in any case.

Well, like Nysan, if this sort of topic is being readdressed...

Has something dodgy happened to the mining skill lately or is my dwarf just getting less lucky? It used to be that I could go no more than thirty mines, usually less, before I finally got something... Now he's a bit better, but in over a hundred, hundred and fifty mines I think I have only got one, maybe two pieces of ore.

If it's just my char, nevermind...

Thanks

Mining difficulty has not been increased that I am aware of

Just cherish each find like a dwarf should ;)

I hug my tin and copper ore just as much as I hug my titanium and mithril ore and proud of it. :D
