Pkill question...

Post by Theillik » Sun Jul 02, 2006 6:27 am

How does summoning work in a pkill situation?

I was in spar mode with a character, then another one joined in. The new one casted a summoning spell for a Wyvern. The Wyvern started beating the crap out of my character, because I was in spar mode.

I don't see how this is fair, so how can summoning work in a pkill, unless you changed to stun?

An additonal question in the same vein, how do persistant damage spells work in spar mode ? i.e. Acid blast etc because they continue to damage outside the spar round sequence. ?

Duranamir,

Here are two threads about how persistent continual damage spells work(ed).

http://www.forgottenkingdoms.com/board/ ... tent+spell

http://www.forgottenkingdoms.com/board/ ... acid+blast

Hope one of those answers your question...though I'm not positive on exactly what they mean myself =P

I read those links, and maybe I missed something, but they don't seem to make a clear decision on the issue.

Are spells like Acid Arrow (persistent damage spells) allowed in a pkill that uses spar mode? Is summoning monsters allowed in a pkill that uses spar mode?

While I dont think there are any rules against it, it isnt necessarily fair. The fair thing to do in a spar is to warn that you are about to cast such spells so they can switch over to killmode stun. That doesnt mean you should switch to killmode stun and type murder as soon as you do. You should wait for them to cast the spell and then let the code take over.
Glim asks Gwain 'Can I be on the watch?!?'
Gwain raises an eyebrow.

Just an idea, can you order your minion to go killmode spar and order it to smote?
Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and go well with ketchup.

Maybe if this was a normal minion. But in this case it was a summoned monster. In my limited experience summoned monsters are very aggressive and will attack on sight, you do not even have to order them. It might be possible to order them once they have started fighting but you would have to be very very quick.

It maybe that summoned monsters should be made non aggressive but auto assist the owner?. So that the summoner has to at least order the monster to attack or be attacked before it starts ripping and tearing  .

I am also unclear whether normal minions can be ordered into killmode spar or stun ? I may do an experiment tonight if i can find someone willing to be attacked.

Update

Normal minions can certainly be ordered into killmode stun and killmode spar and do obey them (at least against other mobs.) To do this for a summoned monster however you would have to be very quick as they seem to be immediatley aggresive.
