Sooo, when FK is down...

Post by Meekir » Mon Jul 24, 2006 6:05 pm

I sat down to work, and to my despair,
There's no FK today! (Should I play solitaire?)
Maybe you'll like this, or maybe you'll groan,
But while waiting I came up with this stupid poem.

---

I don't want to LARP, or go "roll" playing,
For WoW I'd have to pay,
So this internet thing will cause me to sing
I'd rather be playing FK

There once was a time when FK was unknown,
I really thought "mud" was dirty,
But that's when I started FKing around
Now I'll play till I'm hundred and thirty.

Let's go FKing around, around
Let's go FKing around
I don't need pictures, I don't need sound,
Let's go FKing around

I used to throw parties and go out all night,
To friends my time devote,
But that's when I started FKing around
Now instead of talking I smote.

I used to work hard in a nine-to-five job,
"In real life" I had me a trade,
But that's when I started FKing around
Now lookit the plat that I made!

Let's go FKing around, around
Let's go FKing around
I don't need pictures, I don't need sound,
Let's go FKing around

Some may think it's boring, some may think it's strange,
To spend all those hours in game,
But why not have fun and escape for a change?
Take on a new face and a name?

In a far away place and a far away time,
We're in a hero's age,
But suddenly here my boss yells in my ear
And points at my screen in a rage:

"Hey, quit FKing around, you clown,
Hey, quit FKing around!
I don't CARE what amazing new item you found!
Just quit FKing around!!"

---

The server was down, so I wanted to say,
though there's lots I could do, I'd rather FK.

Real Life seams to have nothing when FK is down
I am sitting at work... looking blankly at the screen
Life flows around me while I look at my screen
I answer and dispatch and yet... nothing goes on
FK is my home away from home
Something I can go too to fill in the gaps of my life
Yet... for the next 24 hours - 4 days. The gaps will remain empty
Forever it will seam and FAR to look it will feel
before FK will fill the gaps of my life

EDIT: Wow... I really need to find something to do

So I am sitting here at home on the couch and found out FK was down, What to do...Type the newspaper...Great that is done...now what? Nothing. My roomate gets home and says "You know, you revolve your life around that game." he laughed at me and calls me a dork. But I love Forgotten Kingdoms a lot. And I feel that it gives me more entertainment than going to a bar and watch a bunch of...oh...hmmm younger crowd..go to a resteraunt and sit at a table with friends thinking about what I am missing in the game that can add to a delicious yummy paper. Just call me the Joan Rivers of Forgotten Kingdoms! HAHAH. Case and Point There is nothing to do when FK is down except think about what we COULD be doing on FK

Just spent 4 years wondering what I could do in FK if I ever play again... and now, 24h is damn hard to stand. I stare watching tv show, refreshing the forums every so minute and creating publications.

pronunciation note

Post by Meekir » Mon Jul 24, 2006 9:30 pm

I'm poking fun, myself included - I mean, I want to play, too. C-: let's not even talk about withdrawl. I just heard on the radio a news report about compulsive online gamblers, and the interviewer asked, "So, you don't think of yourself as addicted. You've played how many times?... Can you think of anything else you've done that many times in your lifetime, besides your heart beating?"

as a note, do you refer to playing FK as "FKing around"? and do you pronounce that the proper way, or the fun way which should probably be censored?

My boyfriend is saying that FK has seemed to become my life and wants me to cut down on it. Well, today is definatly a cut, and he goes off to the bar with my friend's husband for a birthday drink and pool. :P
I keep refreshing the forums. If you pay attention to who's on the forums, I haunt them. :(
Yeah, my sleep schedule is revolving around FK...I've fallen back in hard after having been gone.
I have Guild Wars and Sacred and Neverwinter Nights that I could be playing, but...it's just not the same.
Been listening to music all day. Paid some bills *gasp*.
And Meekir, I just call it FKing. :P
And it seems like all the best RP happens right before the game goes down...
We were having quite the time in Menzo. :P

Man how I wanna play. :( I need a support group.

Half Baked is a movie starring Dave Chappelle, that came out in the mid 90's. Bob Saget makes a cameo appearance at a Narcotics Anonymous meeting Dave's character goes to. I really cant get into too much detail about what Bob Saget says but its worth a rental if your legally (of age) to see it.

I consider myself Tyler Durdan on this one. I need this, or support groups. I wonder if Marla Singer plays FK? :P

It wasn't even about seven o'clock in the evening, when they shut down Fk, well, what to do with a whole evening and night to spend? Plenty of time you know...
Only thing helpful was going down the cellar and get something realy cold and yummy ;) Everybody should have some mixed coke-beer at home :)

I do. That new Cola-Black. Tastes just like a horrible mixture of soda, and beer.

uhm, question, what is Cola Black?
I just know Cola, Cola light etc., their range of products may be a little bit reduced here. :)
Can't you get Cola and beer already mixed from some brewery?

Personally, these periods are bursts of productivity for me, when I get a ton of OOC things done that I should probably have done before when I was playing FK instead. (From the replies, I know others can identify!) I also feel as though my batteries get recharged...maybe it's my salvation from addiction, but beyond a certain point I really do get too much FK; for me, absence makes the heart grow fonder. I'm glad of the occasional forced absence, more now than when I first started (so hey, please know I can also identify with those of you haunting the Forums now.) Especailly Zack - I know how it can sting when you've been away and are looking forward to coming back, but find the game down...you ask yourself, why couldn't it have been down whilst I was *away*?

As to FKing around - call me prudish, but I don't like it. I mean, it's snappy, witty, a good turn of phrase - good poetry, by the way, Meekir! - but I'd never use it myself. I actually force myself to call it PLAYing FK, because it helps me keep in mind that that's what it is I'm really doing. Helps me remember to spend some time trying to save the *real* world, though that's a heck of a lot harder to do.

p.s. Cola Blak is a new product the Coca Cola company is trying in the US. Coffee and coke, I think it's supposed to be. It is available from a brewer - your local (US) Coca-Cola bottler, the same one who has the magic spell that turns tap water into $1/bottle "Dasani"
