gouging out eyes

Post by Scylere » Mon Aug 14, 2006 3:42 pm

You scream as an Elite Goblin Soldier gouges at your eyes. You cannot see a thing!

This happened in the Peak. I find it difficult to believe that a weak goblin of at the most four feet could gouge out a seven foot tall man's eyes, especially one of very high level.

While I'm on this subject, I also found it rather odd that the goblins can riposte, a skill that usually fighters can't get until super high levels. They riposte better than my high level fighter.

These goblins just seem amazing! There's no way they could be improving with the amount of them that die each time an adventurer enters the Peak...lol.

Any thoughts?

If your high level fighter thinks the goblins are appropriate combatants for his superior skills then why should he be surprised if one of them jumps up and scratches his eyes out?

Please don't try to cover up having a level 40+ character gathering coin in a lowbie area by raising spurious questions on the boards.

well... in the event he was helping a lowbe char in the area... i believe there is an echo bug in the ripsote that when YOU ripsote that it will echo that they do it...

also, if the goblin was gouging your eye, i am sure that when fighting one, another can jump on your back and start gouging your eyes

at least that is what I would do if i was being attacked

and in the event that gwain is right about your motive of being there.... pick on someone your own size and let the lowbe's have their fun

Also...

Just because your self-imaged description says you are 7 feet tall, doesn't mean you are 7 feet tall, codewise. There IS a height set on your score at char creation. Chances are, it's just shy over 6 feet, if that much, if you're a human.

On a side note...

My Rogue... is 5 foot something... and I recall one time...After having JUST learned Gouge that I ripped the BRAINS out of a ogre and killed it on the spot. You know ... a HUGE one... lots taller than me ;)

SOoo yeah Go Gobbies! lol and it DID say elite ;) which to me would indicate one of their BEST... I see no reason they would not be training up what with all the peeps running out there to kill them.

Maybe we can learn a thing or two about the assumptions made when It has to do with goblinoids. you never know when you will meet your match! ROFLMAO

WOw... I love Gouge it is my all time favorite skill.. too bad Banna is soo preggo she can't go Eyeball ripping. I LIVE to see that echo again about ripping someones brains out through his eyeball sockets... it was the coolest echo EVER! Good thing that Gobbie was so short... or you might have had a frontal lobotomy ;)

And on an interesting note, goblins, though cowardly and weak in most respects fight like madmen when cornered. Consider that a goblin facing death will most likely go mad with sheer terror and bite, claw, gouge, scream and soil himself to survive an encounter rather than die. Anything can be deadly when cornered no matter how weak it is in comparisson to it's attacker. It has nothing to lose so it will fight for it's life to survive.
Justice is not neccesarily honourable, it is a tolerable business, in essence you tolerate honour until it impedes justice, then you do what is right.

Spears have a long reach, and he is the elite of the goblins.

I cant believe no one has said this yet:

GO FOR THE EYES, BOO!
Glim asks Gwain 'Can I be on the watch?!?'
Gwain raises an eyebrow.

lol Glim >.<

Also...I was thinking about it... are we not in caves which were made by these tiny Goblins? Wouldnt those said caves be small? Thus making you hunch over your 7 footness to go through them.. making you lower to the ground perhaps ?? ;) Orrrrrr Perhaps there are lots of Rocks about... places those Gobbies could hop up onto and pounce into your face ! *Booya!*

OMG I love Gouge... *huggles her gouge*

BTW do we not have PCs with Goblin characters? Are they playing these characters as tiny, useless, weak, snivelling creatures who do nothing?? I bet not. *nods sagely*

Okay Im off to practice my gouge... *muhahahahha*

I really don't think that combat is you standing there, and the goblin standing there, a foot or so apart, poking each other with sharp pointy things. They can easily climb onto rocks, gouge you with a spear, or even drop down from crevasses in an ambush, so many things could happen in a fight, I don't think that's unreasonable. Now saying that they wouldn't be able to do it to a high level is an entirely different subject, and it's a pretty moot point. It would almost be similar to saying, 'since I'm high level there's no way this mob could kill me, it's faulty code.'
