Test port down

Post by Dalvyn » Sun Feb 12, 2006 8:28 pm

Ok, it looks like one of the uploaded files did not go through completely (I think it was zasssewers.are) and the mud did not like to be run on an incomplete file.

Should be back up when Mask comes back.

As for me, I'm going to bed early today. Please try and upload a new complete version when you can. I'll check tomorrow morning if there's a new one to download (if Mask had the time to set both ports back up).

Ok this is what I found out about my Area:
I took the copy that was preloaded on the mud and compared it to the one where I was making my edits and everything checked out. The only edits I made where exits (had a lot of dead ends). I passed it through the Areacheck and it went through. I passed the original file from off the mud and got:

Code: Select all

Boot_db: bad section name.
Line 30
Thats my Quests section. Because I dont have any quests it looks like this:

Code: Select all

28 #WEATHER 5 5
29
30 #QUESTS
31 -1
32
33 #MOBILES
Now when I remove the #quests section it passes through FKCHECK no problems. The copy I originally submited didnt have the QUESTS section in it, but someone had entered it when it was loaded on the Testport. So I dont know what could have caused it? Maybe it doesnt like the quests tag?
I uploaded it again just in case the upload chopped it.

The mud can cope with QUESTS section. What is possible though is that the area checker cannot. I actually do not think that the area checker was ever updated for that section. So, for now, you will have to do as you did and remove it by hand, check the area without it, then put it back.

As far as I can see, the problem was not with a bug in your file. It was with the uploading. Somewhere, the file got truncated and the end did not go through. That's what the mud did not like. So it's not your fault... it's just a problem with the connection perhaps.

Yes it is, I apparently made a change to my zmud settings and it prevented it from connecting. Thanks!
