Winterfest Ball - Dec. 23rd
Greetings,
You have all been formally invited by the High Lady of Berdusk to attend a fancy dress ball in honour of the Winterfest season on Dec. 23rd, 2006. The High Lady has proclaimed that there will be food and drink, dancing, and bardic playing for all. Additionally, gifts will be given to each of our guests.
All are invited, no matter the race or deity they serve. Please let it be known, though, that ANYONE causing trouble will be swiftly removed by palace guards.
(PM me if you are interested in attending as a bard. Renames will be given for free on this day on the one condition that it must be a gift for someone else, and preferably a Winterfest gift. The festivities will begin at 6 PM EST. Hope to see everyone there!)

Stupid to ask, but, will we have new merchants/shops for masks and other fancy clothing?Waukeen wrote:Greetings,

Some weeks ago the guard on the Square gave turkey-costumes to all gathered there, perhaps there could be more costumes like those and different ones? With drappings like tails (dog/cat/horse whatever) and/or birdcrowns.
And don't forget the drow, as far as I know they are quite favoured as costumes among the nobility's revels in the forgotten realms.
Following Lerytha's example it could be like this
worn on body: a black tunic with spider ornaments
worn on face: a drow mask or black soot
worn on head: a white peruke
worn on ears: fake black elf ears
held: a fake whip (if you're a girl or costume like a female)
held: a fake spider or mean looking papier-maché-dagger
A tiger could look like this
worn on body: striped tiger-costume
worn on face: tiger-mask or tiger-make-up
worn around face: fake whiskers
worn on head: plush-tiger-ears
worn on hands: plush paw-gloves with plush-claws
worn around waist: a long tiger's tail
worn on leg: striped trousers
worn on feet: paw-shoes with plush-claws
Can perhaps someone check 6 pm EST with this worldtime-website, I seem to be too stupid to find out what time 6 pm EST is for me.

Weit in der Champagne im Mittsommergrün,
dort, wo zwischen Grabkreuzen Mohnblumen blühn,
da flüstern die Gräser und wiegen sich leicht
im Wind, der sanft über das Gräberfeld streicht.

Mayhaps same costumes but in different colors. As for the dragons you could go for the metalic or the chromatic with the same basic-costume but other minor drappings like horns of a black dragon or those tentacle-like things gold dragons have on their mouth.
Thinking about tentacles, there could be even illithids A mask with a bunch of their nasty tentacles, covering the mouth of it's wearer. It would be fun to see dwarves or so posing as illithids.
could look like that:
Head: hood
worn on face: violet illithid mask
worn around face: three thick, slimy and nasty looking tentacles
worn on Body: tight robe
Arms: sleeves of fine dark drapery
Hands: gloves, ending in skeletal long fingers
feet: fine slippers
According to the wings, perhaps Butterfly wings among others
What about pair-costumes? One of the pair wears the costume of the female and the other wears the one of the male. Would fit with peacooks, pheasants and other animals such as deers and sheep etc.

Oh it's not just you who's getting excited and bouncy about it
I agree with Caelyvar's comment about people turning up in the same outfits, but I'm also fearful of the amount of renaming work it could cause for poor Waukeen! Perhaps outfits should be limited to just a couple of items that would really 'make' it? Like a mask and an accessory?
Unless of course Waukeen's fine with it, in which case I'm SURE I can come up with a few more outfits

Bah, spoil my surprise why don't you?
I'd like to see a goodly stock of masks in varying colours and degrees of absurd decoration. I think it's time for an underground shipment of Manshoon masks too!
