About the trade system

Post by Aliatris » Thu Jan 18, 2007 4:49 pm

Hello to those interested in trade exportation/importation between cities.

I don' t know if someone is interested in such system (I did not notice such kind of traders in the game) but I would suggest that all members of the merchant guild had no pay interests to deposit money in banks, because it is the only way to get the exact amount of money for paying the crates of trades goods.

If I have to deposit the platinum to withdraw it as gold because the price of the trade good that I have to buy is not a multiple of 5, and I have to pay the exact amount, I lost some money there in the bank, and giving that you do not get too much money in this kind of business it makes the option of trading not specially interesanting.

The other choice would be the possibility of transform somehow a coin of higher value in it is equivalent of lower value coins.

Example: You transform 1 plat --> 5 gold, 1 gold -> 2 electrum,
1 electrum -> 5 silver ...

Bankers can already change smaller coins into higher currency (e.g., if you give 500 copper to a banker, he will give back 1 platinum).

It would be simple enough to add programs to change coins in the other direction I guess.

First of all;

Thanks for the fast code update for the banks exchange system and thanks to all who somewhat helped created the merchant guild trade system, currently I feel like trader in Faerun.

But I would suggest some modification to the money given IN RETURN for the trade good.

At the same time that I was traveling with one unit of the trade good I was escorting to the same destination that I was headed a NPC who gave me 3 platinum as reward.

For investing 45 gold I get 1 gold as profit in return.
To get 3 platinum by trade (15 gold) I should invest at least 675 gold (135 plat)

So this is why I would suggest increasing the gold IN RETURN for the trade goods. (Just for get the same amount of money that I would get by collecting scalps in the travel back to WD I should invest 63 platinum)

I still would like to thank to all the people who made possibe this awsome system of trade, and all who make possible make the mud running.

Note that profit also depends on where you sell things.

For each kind of trade goods, there are two or three merchant houses where you can sell them. And they most likely will give you different prices for the same good, depending on how much they need it.
