I was just looking over the races of faerun book and came across some mounts and such for dwarves.
Now I know the dwarves are able to get mules as pack animals. But would it at all be possible to make it to where one could have a mule and a mount as well? Being as the mule is not used for riding and the dwarves are known to ride smaller mounts souch as war ponies and dire boars. I would love to see the dwarves be able to get a little more diversity then just a mule.

I don't know if Dwarves have changed since I started playing here, but back when I played Gedras it was frowned upon for him to be seen on a mount. The simple response was that Dwarves prefer the ground and felt unstable on the back of a beast because they have to rely on something other than themselves.
I personally would prefer to have Dwarven mounts, but due to the generalization (if it still exists) I don't know if it will really be seen as IC.

Well this information was taken straight from races of faerun. So that is kind of the definitive information on races for the game I would think. I understand a dwarf not wanting to ride something large like aormal warhorse. So having some smaller mounts for them would be cool I think. My only worry was, would it be possible to leave a mule as a minion and have a warpony as a mount?

For what it is worth, Code currently limits each PC to two "pets," but allows both of those pets to be rideable mounts. So there's no code issue here.
However, part of what makes Dwarves dwarves is their fierce self-reliance, and reluctance to do almost anything "the easy way" if it entails another doing work on their behalf, as Selveem suggested in his post.

The way I see it, dwarves riding around on things is not wrong, but it's generally seen as strange by the dwarven community. Dwarves are generally very fond of conformity and anything out of the ordinary is viewed with skepticism and disdain. There are certainly dwarves that are trained to use mounts, but for the most part they aren't used for travelling, but rather for war. Dwarves might ride griffons, boars or ponies because they provide an advantage in battle. It's more common for a dwarf to travel on foot if it's feasible because it's the more self-reliant thing to do.
Another reason dwarves might not like riding is that dwarves are very fond of predictability. This is one of the reasons why dwarves don't often get along well with elves, and why they don't like boats or the ocean. Animals are not predictable and dwarves don't like anything they can't trust completely.

I might have missed something since ive been absent from the game but:
Couldnt you just buy 2 mules, name them different names, and use one for a mount and one for a packhorse?
Or is the problem that mules cant be mounted? In that case, you could just buy a mule and a pony as well from somewhere else.
Edit: Raona pretty much summed up what I was getting to.
Feedback is always welcome,
Thanks,
