Bards need some love

Post by Vindur » Tue May 08, 2007 6:04 pm

This time my suggestion to enhance one class falls upon bards.

I would like to suggest the following additions that will bring bards closer to the bard class in D&D.

First: Addition of meditate skill; bards can't cast as many spells as a pure spellcaster and that is fine for bards, but all spellcasters regain them
at the same rate. (If anyone thinks that this would be too powerful, think that there is a class who can cast 9th level spells, with better hit dice and can wear full plate without affecting to their spellcasting)

Second: Expansion of sing skill. Bards in D&D are a class that since their first level are able to inspire their companions to perform heroic deeds. Being able to sing a base song that increases of power as they develop their sing skill AND they level up would make good to them, also it would have limited uses for day.

I think that unlike with others skills/spells this could be perfectly portrayed
in a mud, and if necessary I will offer myself to learn to code the language that uses this mud and coding it myself, since this would make the class very closely as is in tabletop.
