[ITEM] Fortune Coins

Post by Alvirin » Mon Sep 03, 2007 2:05 am

This item is composed of a pair of coins, each coin shows in one side a river and in the other a mountain.

Its use is to determine if the area in which you are is safe or not by comparing your character level with the area in which you are.

By THROWing them you can get three different results:

Two rivers: The area is safe for you, you should be able to move through it without any problems.

A mountain and a River: The area could prove very challenging but is still accessible to the character.

Two Mountains: The character has many chances of dying here.

Of course you could still die if you get two rivers by doing something extremely risky or silly, and in any case the coins don't guarantee you anything, they are an inaccurate source information.

My friend, your novelty is inspiring. You've got my vote. Ingenious, different, and suitable!

This is not a bug. Shield dwarves are actually made of mithril.

The only problem with that though is, it depends on the characters abilities, armour, stats, and who if anyone is with them, as well as magical buffs etc... It's almost impossible to know wether an area is safe for someone or not because each character is unique, power does not necissarily come from level.

Inaccurate is better than no information.

I like the concept of the idea, though I think that an OOC solution would be better. Perhaps just a command to see how you rate against the difficulty of the area.
Glim asks Gwain 'Can I be on the watch?!?'
Gwain raises an eyebrow.
Gwain seems to display a look of complete horror for a second...

I think we already have a consider command, maybe it could use that in some way to display how the character could fare against a sample mob from the area without making it walk all the way into the aggressive area.

To add to Japcil's comment; maybe a "consider e/w/s/n" where you consider the first mob listed to the direction (consider 2.east as well?)...that may help a little
Listen up! People pay good money to see this movie! When they go out to a theater they want cold sodas, hot popcorn, and no monsters in the projection booth! Do I have to come up there myself? Do you think the Gremsters can stand up to the Hulkster?
