FK wiki

There's been a lot of talk of the FK wiki recently, and I wanted to ask about it but didn't want to derail the post mentioning it. For confirmation, is this the aforementioned wiki? http://www.skynet.ie/~martin/fk/wiki/in ... /Main_Page

Also I am interested in helping update it and add to it. What is the limit of IC information that can be added there? Of course the obvious no-nos, such as quest info, but what about character stories and past world events and RPs? Descriptions of areas? Also I'm a bit of a wiki newb. I see how to edit pages but how does one create a new page?

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but please hold off on this project until we determine the direction of the pdf project. The PDF one might be in PDF, web, or wiki format. There is a team already assembled for this project. If you wish to join the team, let me know. Please see the PDF thread for our first meeting time. If you are only interested in a wiki contribution, please wait until it is determined which direction the PDF group will go. If it goes toward wiki, I'd prefer that we have one approach to that.

What is the advantage of the wiki, over the help files + the Kingdom Journal forum?

What would adding a wiki bring?

The wiki in question from what I remember and understand was originally going to be the new website after the loss of the forums and web address in nov of 2006 suddenly. It had been seen as a good alternative place to put help files and information pertaining to the game for at least a temporary period. With the reestablishment of the current website in late nov. of 2006 with the change of ownership this was put on hold. Currently I am still all for a wiki of some type, since our article listed on Wikipedia was forcibly removed by editors. I do not think though that it needs to be done right away, and can be a gradual evolution of information.

As far as the help files are concerned, Mask has already set up a system to make them accessible from the web sites. Making a wiki with the same information might not be worth it because that would make 2 distinct copies of the help files and each update would have to be done in both places (while, currently, it is enough to modify the in-game files to automatically update the text you get when you use the web).

As for the histories and how FK is different from FR, I think this kind of articles is better placed in the Kingdom Journal forum we have here. I would actually be very glad to have this kind of publication in this forum. I don't remember refusing any text that was sent for the Kingdom Journal (I might have redirected some texts towards the in-game board though). Currently, I'm the only one "in charge" of the Kingdom Journal, but it's very easy to set up a group of editors instead.
