Resizing magical things

Post by Dranso » Thu Nov 01, 2007 10:30 pm

Its really hard for me to find good armor that fits, and when I do quests most of the items I get usualy don't fit anyway. I was wondering if there could be a npc that you could do a quest for and then in return can resize magical armor or weapons for you?

PC smiths can re-size magical armour using the Tailor command
...never send to know for whom the bell tolls,
it tolls for thee.

Weapons cannot generally be resized if they have magical properties because that would allow players to resize certain weapons for two handed use that should not be resized otherwise this is in regard to mobile repairers.
May you find the knowledge you seek. If you find something else, it is still knowledge, and as such, still a gain.

For armour pieces, I think it would be nice if imms could take some time and have a smith visit the town from time to time, resizing pieces of armour for free or for a nominal fee.

I'll try to make some time to do that too.

Small characters already have enough penalties as is (actually, they have penalties, but no coded size advantages currently, as far as I know), so I think it's more than fair to give them a relatively easy way to resize armour.

Note that I'm not talking about resizing an axe made for a giant into a size such that humans can use it, or resizing a greatsword so that a human can hold it one-handed, I'm mostly talking about pieces of armour and resizing them for small characters.

If a small character gets ahold of a huge weapon, then would it be resized to medium for them, if they wanted to use it? I guess that way they could wield it two-handed. This is just an example.

Dalvyn, do you think you could tell us when you are going to be on to do this?

No set time/date, sorry... I might do it if I see enough small characters online when I am free.
