I wasn't aware this was still an issue. Why aren't AoE spells removed from mobiles yet?

Probably because the volunteer imm who does that kind of thing has other things ahead of it in his que.

If, for whatever reason, someone is jailed because of this current issue.. Would they be pardoned?

For instance, I don't know if any mobiles in Corwell have it or not, but if you kill any non-Evil mob in Corwell it seems like you never get released. I have two characters who have never been released for accidentally killing a mob there. Both of them did so on accident. (On Selveem, I was sleepy and was using hitall on the Drow when the Duke came in.. died before I could even flee - God I miss enhanced damage).

Please send the names of your PCs needing to be released from jail in Corwell and I will erase their crimes on the crime board there. Send the list to the applications address.

This is much appreciated. I don't know if you know, but just to make sure you do: Corwell is special from most places I've seen. If you kill a mob, you get a qbit added to your character labeling them 'a murderer.'

I think even if you clear the crimes list, you're still listed as a murder. :(

God, I'm so sorry. I was talking about Alaron/Holyhead. It's Holyhead that has the weird qbit that gets added to the 'offending character.'

Thats because the area (and its mobprog justice system) predates the coded law system. There may not be a need for it anymore, but its prolly more work than its worth to remove it.

The qlog doesn't though.

Not to be arguementative. It's a serious question, but why does that matter? I don't understand exactly what the qlog is, but from what I understand it just takes all those 'qbits' and 'labels' them so that players can understand them.

Am I inaccurate? If that's the case, it wouldn't that the qlog came after the new justice system.

Ahh, sorry for not explaining. I was saying that the qlog has been implemented since the justice system came in. So someone had to go through the qbits and apply all the good or bad labels to them. If it wasn't needed or wasn't intended, then I assume it would have been removed then.

The other day I had a stirge attack me, then a moose walked in and assisted it, and then a Knight of Silver walked in and assisted the moose, beat me to a pulp.

I'm still hoping I won't get arrested in Silvermoon for putting a few good whacks in on that knight before he dropped me. I really hope this one gets looked into, but I imagine it will be a lot of work for the Imms.

inn guards and pirate isle guardsmen

Post by Ilnthis » Sat Mar 22, 2008 7:44 am

I am not sure if this will fit in with the rest of the post, but my dwarven cleric came across two PC's that were at the Friendly Arms inn, fighting the kobolds, hobgoblins, etc. and there were at least one Pirate Isle guardsmen there that attacked them, and when the PC's responded, the inn's guards attacked them for attacking the pirate guards, actually killing one of the PC's.

So... I was attacking a rat in Waterdeep, when a female watch wizard appears, joins the battle, and then turns on me after the rat dies!

Your punch nearly removes a small rat's head.
a small rat is covered in cuts and bruises.
A small rat weaves out of the way of your punch.
A female watch wizard walks in from the south.
Your punch hammers a small rat's chest.
a small rat is bleeding freely.

You guess a female watch wizard is casting wail of the banshee.

You're are restrained from doing that!

You feel yourself leaving your body... rising up into the air, you feel
more free than you have ever felt before...

However, before your deity comes to collect your soul, you feel a strange
pulling sensation as strange and colorful mists swirl around you...
A female watch wizard utters the words, 'wail of the banshee'.
You die from fear as a female watch wizard emits an ear percing shriek.
You can't do that! You're DEAD!

Looking at that, I can see that she started chanting before the rat died, and I just got caught up in it :( Pity I was restrained from fleeing as well. Maybe she was just having a bad day and wanted to take it out on someone?

Oh great! I've been taken off to the dungeon for my crime of "assault" on the watch wizard! I didn't even touch her!

Edit: Gotta say this is all rather amusing to RP, poor Peverell! Everyone's always mean to him...

Yeah, I don't touch those rats anymore unless there's no one in the nearby rooms. Too many risks of assault. Hey, I'm sure plenty of medieval cities had vermin running through the streets ;)

I've seen (I think) three spells that result in a fight between the mob assisting and the player being assisted. Storm of Vengeance, Flamestrike and Weird all seem to do it. I believe that Storm of Vengeance and Flamestrike both have multiple effects that fire off (because they have multiple damage types). If Weird also has multiple effects, then that might be the common link between the spells that cause these fights.

All three of those are area spells so that should happen since you aren't grouped with the assisting NPC.

I think the overall best solution is to just remove AoE spells from npcs.
