Not to disparage, but saving someone from dying is something that effectively any class can do. And you have every right to expect people to be grateful, though it doesn't always happen. Charging for payment is an interesting issue, since generally it would be a fairly spontaneous thing whereas people have to go and specifically ask Priests/Wizards for their skills.
In the case of Wizards and Priests, though, they provide a unique service, with Raise dead and the movement/protection spells, so get much more of the "Your only use is to bring people back to life/make them fly so do it.".
Most of the issue with Ranger I think would be simple RP, the cityfolk can't really understand these strange people who live out in the woods
