[MODE] +complete
[MODE] +complete
I thought about this after a little incident, thanks to who helped me, and know that I'm very sorry it wasn't my intention closing the ask channel.
This mode would force the player to write full names when interacting to others for example:
if you want to give a piece of ore to orus the dwarf which is in the same room than ormun a half-orc and you type 'give ore or' you could give it to the wrong mob by accident.
This mode would force you to type "give ore orus" or "kill kobold" otherwise you would be reminded to write full sentences.

I think this is a divine idea, Vibius - I've been bitten by this myself, more than once.
I don't know how codeable it is, but I understood your suggestion differently than I think you intended it: the code would automatically check for possible ambiguity, and tell you to be more specific, when what you type could specify multiple targets. Thus, using your example above, "give ore or" would work normally if only Orus was in the room, but would return "Could you please be more specific?" if Orus and Ormun are both there.
I'll do my best to champion this general concept (both possible fixes) through the system, starting by putting them into Bugzilla as a suggested improvement. Thank you for taking the time to make a concrete recommendation!

Hviti, I've always used something similar to that alias, but instead of look, I make my character do something stupid. It's sort of a punishment I'm giving myself for not being careful. If found that I make the mistake far less than I used to.

Interesting, I have an alias for l that makes me murder whoever was going to be looked at.
Good thing I make myself type the full commands.
See, that's kind of what I don't get. Instead of requiring a command to be coded, why not just make yourself type the full commands? I have always done this. Only things I use abbreviations for are inv, mem, med, and eq.

Glim asks Gwain 'Can I be on the watch?!?'
Gwain raises an eyebrow.
Gwain seems to display a look of complete horror for a second...

This is a really awesome idea. Any chance this is on the to-do list?

While I cannot speak to the to-do list, type commands. You will see that we have abbreviations set as commands. Would a better solution be to just remove those?

It is - but that list is long. It will be considered when its turn comes up. Bug fixes generally come before enhancements, though.Selveem wrote:This is a really awesome idea. Any chance this is on the to-do list?

I think I speak for many when I say that I'm just relieved this fine idea is in the works.

Re: [MODE] +complete
Just found this post, while searching for something else. (All praise serendipity) The alias for k=look % is an excellent idea, I did have it set to sneeze loudly, but I like that one more As for removing the abbreviations from the commands list, I didn't even think about that, not sure if the trouble removing them would be worth it, since it is a player error kind of thing that can be easily remedied with a little attention paid to the keyboard. (I've done it myself, so no stones thrown, etc, etc ) But it's a really good idea as to the cmode +complete, if workable.
Re: [MODE] +complete
One immediate example springs to mind:
I type 'hug Val' for Valerity...
You hug Valiant, a something-or-other horse...
Can't think -how- many times I've done that.

So you mean... all those times brodnur has sneezed she may have been thinking of killing us instead? I used to have it set for sneezing myself, but people started to look at my characters because they were sneezing all the time. So now I just have it set to nonsense so it brings up huh?
