Full faith lists
Full faith lists
Another topic got me to thinking. A lot of us take the time to look at the faith lists and see if there is anyone new we should be trying to hunt down and help out. There are a few faiths though that this is hard to do. You have an inquirers list that is over twenty people long, it can be a little hard to pick out the people you should be trying to find. Especially if the hopeful list is just as long. I know this doesn't apply to all faiths, but I was looking through one of the lists on one of my characters and a couple of those people haven't logged since last year some time. Is there a way that we, or someone can clear some of these people off the lists that haven't logged in forever? I'm not talking about faithed people...but perhaps people that haven't yet gotten quests...or just inquirers only? I'd have a lot easier time noticing there was a new name on the list if there weren't already an eyeful in that section. Once they decide to log again it isn't that difficult to get back to these two positions again. Just a thought.
Re: Full faith lists
It might do to lower the inactive time down to two months, that way player characters gone longer than two months would go inactive in their respective faiths.
May you find the knowledge you seek. If you find something else, it is still knowledge, and as such, still a gain.
Re: Full faith lists
Alright, that might work....but just to answer a stupid person's questions...what does that mean exactly? What does it mean to go inactive...I realize what the word means but, after two months does someone just disappear off of the faith list? If so, when they come back are they reinstated to their former position? What is the inactive time set at currently? Is it just for hopeful/inquirer members, or is it something that can happen to more prominent members of the faith as well. Sorry for all the questions, but I didn't know there was such a thing already and you got me curiousOghma wrote:It might do to lower the inactive time down to two months, that way player characters gone longer than two months would go inactive in their respective faiths.
Re: Full faith lists
It happenes to all ranks and members of the faith when they've not been online, for a -very-long time. They are put inactive, there's a command to check on the inactive ones of the faith list. If they return they just pop up again and have their old rank back.

Re: Full faith lists
Ah! That -would- be very helpful then!
Re: Full faith lists
Would be nice to update the time limit on inactive. Its a fun little venture to hunt down faith seekers, but I agree it can be confusing and a bit dishearting to realize most of your hopefuls/inquirers have not logged in since last x-mas. Inactive is the best way to fix this, since it does not do anything lasting to characters. One log in and poof, back in the spot light.

Re: Full faith lists
Also to avoid having faith members and faith managers logging in for five minutes every three or four months to stay in active status, I would suggest making it take at least five-ten hours of activity before you are removed from inactive status and placed back in active status. One thing we want to avoid is creating false hope for selfish reasons.

Re: Full faith lists
As a faith manager, I personally would frown on it requiring a number of hours before a name is added back active to the faith list. I use the faith list frequently as an indicator to see who actually has logged. If I see a name pop back from the active list, I start looking for them. It's much easier than going through the list and typing finger on all the names, much worse would be having to list the inactive list, then finger each of those to see if they've logged, just not enough. And if you combine that with the shorter stale time to move off the list, it will lead to false negatives for those who don't log often, imo.
I'm unsure whom would be logging on for a minute or two every month for "selfish reasons", and I think the issue of this for faith managers, and faith members is two separate things. For faith managers, it's part of a bigger picture of tending to their faiths. For faith members, hopefuls, etc, there's no obligation on the part of a player to be online for X hours a month to be a part of a faith, and nor should there be. I'm thankful for the faith members or hopefuls who log an hour a month, as much as I am for the ones who play every day.
I'm fine with shortening the stale times on the list, but I see no need to delay a name being added back if the person doesn't log but a few hours a month. Those may be the few hours a month they are able to play when they come back, and they should still be hopeful to have others in the faith help them on their way.

Re: Full faith lists
Agreed, 1 hour a month or 3 days straight, it should not really matter for the average faith member. Higher up are held to different rules.
