[Spell] Floating Disc

Post by Nysan » Fri Sep 26, 2008 9:04 pm

I like this spell, but it concerns me. What bothers me about this spell is there is no way to determine the remaining duration of a disc. A disc poofing out in the world, dumping items everywhere, has kept me away from placing this spell in regular rotation.

After some extensive testing, I have a suggestion: An echo, roughly an in-game hour before the disc poofs, to alert the room of the up-coming poofing. Something along the lines of: "a floating disc flickers briefly as its magic begins to fade."

Thoughts?

You do not need to change the world, merely leave it a little better than how you found it.

I agree with this. It was rather annoying when the spell waned and all my crap dropped while I was moving around the world.. I had to go all the way back and find out what particular room it dropped in the ocean.. Though, I'd prefer to be able to cast the spell again and instead of having it create another, restore the duration of the one present.

The warning echo is a start, alot better than the aburpt poofing it does now. Being able to target current discs with the spell via "cast 'floating disc' disc" and extend the duration is an interesting idea for a second step. (and prevents wackjob wizards from making 53 discs in a room during a weird experiment)

One, I like the idea of a warning. Dropping equipment on the ground to be vulnerable during a crash is, in my opinion, a bad idea and was done away with during bulls strength for that very reason. A warning would be a great addition.

As to extending the duration instead of casting it again would be, if code-wise possible, another great addition. These two in tandem would make for a very useful spell.
