Mages and Swimming

I'm uncertain as to whether or not this is a bug, nor was I sure whether to post this in the bug forum or not, but in any event. . . .

When Tandria was just a wee wizard, it was possible for her to learn swim. However, as soon as she became a mage, that possibility disappeared. Out of curiousity, is this supposed to happen?

When you begin a character of any class, you get a stock set of skills/spells. When a priest enters a faith, they often lose some, when a wizard chooses a guild, they too. When a warrior does, etc. :) No bug, just life in the big city. :D
