Human racial bonus

Post by Vibius » Mon Jan 05, 2009 3:03 am

One of the "benefits" of playing a human in PnP is that they get 4 skill extra points at level 1, and in additional levels an extra skill point.

I propose that for purposes of determining how fast increase your no-combative skills, skill-like trades and trades your intelligence would be considered one point higher.

By no combative skills, I would mean all the skills that appear when you type skills with exception of additional attacks (X attack, dual wield) and combat maneuvers (disarm, bash and so on). In essence what would be truly skills in a DnD sense.

By skill-like trades, I mean those skills that some classes have that doesn't appear listed under trades but allow to create items (ie: brewing)

You already had a thread about this.

I already suggested Humans get a bonus to their skill increases.

Jeez Selveem, cut him slack, he waited a full year to repost ;)

Rereading the old thread, and reading what Vibius has to say about it now - I'd propose basically what I proposed last time though slightly different. Humans have enough perks that aren't mechanical, but if we decide to do a mechanical skill based perk starting all trades they learn at amateur instead of inept, would properly reflect the nature of the bonus tabletop provides without being overbearing.
Listen up! People pay good money to see this movie! When they go out to a theater they want cold sodas, hot popcorn, and no monsters in the projection booth! Do I have to come up there myself? Do you think the Gremsters can stand up to the Hulkster?
