Post by Pakur » Tue Feb 03, 2004 4:59 am

About how many years is it until Half-elves die naturally? Do they live as long as humans? Or....

According to a site I found on the Net someplace (Yay for Google)

D&D 3.5 maximum ages:

Half-orc: 80 years
Human: 110 years
Half-elf: 185 years
Halfling: 200 years
Dwarf: 450 years
Gnome: 500 years
Elf: 850 years

2e rules (max age):

Dwarf: 400
Elf: 750
Gnome: 500
1/2 Elf: 185
1/2ling: 200
Human: 130

Now I don't know of too many people these days who are human who live to be 130. So take those as guidelines if you wish. I am certain those ages will give you flexibility to play around with.

I imagine that half elves would be human like, but blessed with a very long life I would say to like 200-300 considering that half of their being is elven which lives to about 800 so half elves have long lives I would imagine...

From looking at my official half-elves guide, the maximum age of any half-elf is oft dependant on the part that is elven. Though since the majority are probably half moon elf, I will give you what they said there -

Half-elf starting age = 16 + 1d6 modifier, maximum age 150+5d20 (ie max 250) Middle age = 75 old = 113 venerable = 150

Basically the average half-elf is about double a normal human (in our world). For those interested, the high elf mix (gold) lived to a max of 120+3d20, sylvan 100+3d20 and aquatic 75+3d20. There are others like the Rockseer that live longer 200+2d100, but these are much rarer half-elves.

Hope that helps somewhat

Also, there are always except, like Matron Mother Baenre (Before Triel Baenre), she was so old, a few thousand years, nearly 2000 if I recall correctly, she was so old and frail, that were she not so remarkably Lolth blessed, but that was enough for her to be feared. Also, the Arch-Mage of Menzoberranzan, Gromph Baenre, possesses an Amulet of Eternal Youth, which he himself made. If I remember correctly, as I young bow just out of Sorcere (Young by drow standards) he was part of a drow raiding party that was attacked by a unicorn. He was the only one to survive, and killed the unicorn, and took it's horn, and corrupted it's power to make his amulet. So yes, that's a basic rule of thumb, but there are all sorts of exceptions.
